I can recharge an iPod on the same wire & connector, but not the SanDisk: I only get the usual "Battery is too low System shutdown"

I've had the (refurbished, ha!) Sandisk for only a month or so...

I finally found out what was going on: I was using the iPod USB connector, which looks very similar. But I tried with the Sandisk connector I had forgotten at the bottom of a drawer and, well, everything works fine!

Have you tried recharging the battery? If it is not showing when you connect it to your computer, try holding down the Menu/On-Off button for 15 - 30 seconds and see if it goes on.
If you need a new battery this is a good place to get one:

"Battery Is Too Low System Shutdown"

The battery has come loose from the contacts on the inside.

Remove the back (4 screws), remove the battery and put it back in securely.

Then charge it for a couple hours.

Best of Luck.
