Trouble starting RM 250

I have been having trouble kick starting my RM 250!! I can only start it by rolling down a hill and putting it in gear.

I got a 2000 rm 250 and it used to be a cow to kick over i used to spend at least 20 min kicking to start it until i rebuilt the top end with a new piston and rings now it starts on the fourth or fifth kick if that doesnt help you need a new cpu good luck!!!!

Hey. when you kick start a bike it works on a magnet (with the help of a battery). if the magneto or solinoid is not working then will be no spark created in turn there will be no bang. have you checked you battery( if it has 1). maybe the earth wire has burnt out maybe its lost conection somewere. if you always have to jump start it then cheack for those things.

You more than likely need to adjust the valves check out dirtrider.com and search yz250f valve adjustment and that willwalk you through the steps hopefully this will solve you issue. It solved mine.

It means that unburned fuel collected in the exhaust pipe then ignited when the spark plug fired due to the rotation of the crankshaft. It also means the spark plug is firing and the cylinder is getting gas... too much gas. The engine is flooding out due to much choking of the carb during kick starting.

Hi there what it is my kick start has gone stiff and jammes what could it be the bikes a yz250
A shft is broke or bent bad or a bearing got real hot and welded itself to the shaft. If you can roll down a hill and put it in gear and jump it off its one of the two prior problems. it it want start the motor might be seized up.

its not timing, you have electronic timing. clean the carb out, probably some debris in there.

YZF 250 has a hard time starting but when it's warmed up it runs great. Usually only starts when you are rolling down a hill. Kick staring is near impossible.
needs a valve adjustment those bikes shim under bucket and are hard to do get a book or bring it to a dealer

Gear/clutch problem
does not seem like the waterpump. is the clutch set too loose?
usually in wire based clutches, if the clutch cable is set to be too loose, or if it is frayed, and needs replacement, the bike will jump and stall.
check that.
