Surround sound not working through ord...

cant get sound to come through system when watching either digital or ordinary tv. works fine through the dvd. we have connected a hdmi lead and the white and red jack leads to audio out on tv. still nothing. tried to connect it with just a scart lead, nothing!

-   mine is the same prob....surround sound works great on dvd...does not work at all on tv...went to speaker...put it on external...didnt work...put it on mixed...didnt work....internal was just the tv speakers...

currently plugged in with the one yellow jack...not s-video

Had similar problem, removed all jacks apart from red one, now works fine

i get sound from everything but when i lower sound on tv to 0 sound still comes out of the external speakers

Check is "INTERNAL MUTE" on your TV menu set to ON.

If it exist at all on your TV, that should be in SPEAKER SETUP or SOUND OPTIONS, or something like that.

Try connecting the red and white audio cords to your system from your cable box/satellite receiver instead of your tv. Worked for me.

I had the exact same issue.
You need to turn OFF speakers in your TV. You can do this by going to TV menu and finding the speaker option and turn them off.
Make sure you still have TV volume to 10-15 to hear something. For me when I turn tv volume to zero I do not hear anything from Sony Speaker System. So I have TV volume set to 20 and my Sony Speaker System volume is set to around 20 also.

I had the same problem...here is what I found out. I merely clicked on the button on Theatre system controller named "SRD Music" and it came on for my TV. I knew it was all hooked up okay as the microphone test worked. It had to be a setting or something not "activated". I spent hours trying to solve it. Hope that helps..
