Try connecting the red and white audio cords to your system from your cable box/satellite receiver instead of your tv. Worked for me.

I had the exact same issue.
You need to turn OFF speakers in your TV. You can do this by going to TV menu and finding the speaker option and turn them off.
Make sure you still have TV volume to 10-15 to hear something. For me when I turn tv volume to zero I do not hear anything from Sony Speaker System. So I have TV volume set to 20 and my Sony Speaker System volume is set to around 20 also.

Had similar problem, removed all jacks apart from red one, now works fine

I had the same problem...here is what I found out. I merely clicked on the button on Theatre system controller named "SRD Music" and it came on for my TV. I knew it was all hooked up okay as the microphone test worked. It had to be a setting or something not "activated". I spent hours trying to solve it. Hope that helps..

If it exist at all on your TV, that should be in SPEAKER SETUP or SOUND OPTIONS, or something like that.

No surround sound coming from tv. surround sound

It all depends on the TV transmission. If it is stereo, you will get the surround sound. If it is not then you have to listen to ordinary sound.

No surround sound through tv

May be you have to set the Pro-logic option soundfield, this will matrix a 5.1 surround sound effect, unless of course you are sending a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio signal from your TV broadcast into the Home theatre system, also have to check the TV audio output to send audio output to a Home theatre system in other than 2 channel stereo.

Plug the digital cable box audio strait into the dvd player. Plug video from the digital box into your tv.

Surround sound ok whilst playing dvd but not working for tv

On your Sagem TV you should have two RCA ouputs (red and white connection usually marked ouput) ) Connect these to the input on the surround system using the interlink cable.

You should then be able to hear the sound from the TV by changing the SOURCE on the home cinema remote.

Better still if you have a digital out on your TV use that instead.

CAN ONLY GET THE SURROUND SOUND TO WORK WITH DVD'S NOT WITH NORMAL TV OR SKY?? WHY??

You should have a AUDIO menu in which you can simulate true surround sound. This should be in your owners manual. Your DVD is recorded in dolby surround sound that's why on your set it will be reproduced as recorded. I hope Samsung is using a ATSC tuner in that model?
