Question about Compaq Presario SR1030NX (DW256A#ABA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Graphic card I recently bought a video game (Civilization IV) but although the intro movie (although not fluently) runs as well as the menu graphics are fine, as soon as the game starts the entire background on the monitor is black. It seems to me that the graphic card initially installed on the computer is sufficient (anyway the game was launched in the same year as I bought the computer) to the minimum graphic card requirements of 64-MB with Hardware T&L (GeForce 2/Radeon 7500 or better). Sounds are fine. Thanks for your support.

Re: graphic card

The pc you are using probably has onboard video and not a seperate dedicated AGP graphics card, which needs atleast 64MB of memory and T & L support, so check the card before you buy, if you already have an AGP card fitted it may not support T & L

What graphics card should i use to upgrade my hp pavilion p6530f?

it partially depends on what you are looking for a new video card to do, games movies, 3d graphics rendering and on the price you want to pay. Likely you have integrated video which will probably be Intel Graphics based and your choices come down to either Radeon or Nvidia. There are a ton of products out there, with the I3 processor you have I would not invest in the latest and greatest because the rest of your system would be lagging behind. I have been running a EVGA GTX660 card for about 2 years and I have been quite happy. I play a few games and I have a TV hooked up to the HDMI connector for watching movies.

There are several makes with different prices, the question is what are YOU going to use it for.
Gaming/Photo/Audio/Video/Movie about $200.00 to $400.00 will get you a decent video card.
CAD/Graphics will be high end video cards close to a thousand or more.

Can the graphics card of SONY VGC-LT28E be replaced?

Are you wanting to replace the card to get more gaming power or to fix problems with the video?

Unfortunately one of the downsides to buying a computer all in one, is the lack of the ability to upgrade the video. I am sure the RAM or any of the drives could be replaced, but if the video is not working the whole motherboard on the inside would need to be replaced.

I can honestly say that I am slightly jealous. I am stuck in the DVD era of movie's.

Although if it can play blu-ray movies the graphics can't be that bad. but unfortunately "integrated graphics" means built onto the mother-board itself.

Oh and by the way, If you are looking to upgrade something, I would consider upgrading to windows 7. The upgrade is on-line for $75-100.

enjoy ur HD blu-rays my friend.

Cant play any games on pc as 3d grafics are not reconised

Your video card/graphics accelerator is not compatible or setup right. (meaning ,drivers need updating)
We need to open up Direct X diagnostic tool. Use 1 of 2 ways to open it
1 . Go to Start menu. If you have the "RUN" command click on it. type DXDIAG enter
If you dont see the run command then
Without knowing what operating system you have, do this instead. Open up a command prompt.
GO TO: Start, / programs or all programs/ accessories / command prompt , double click.
type in "DXDIAG", enter.
On the System tab it will tell you how much video memory you have as well as the Direct X version.
The system memory and DX version must meet the game requirements.
Click on the Display tab. You will see accelerations in 3 categories. They must all be enabled.
If all or any are disabled the graphics cards driver needs to be updated to the most recent.
Check your games minimum system requirements
without knowing any of your systems specs I cant tell you if it is satisfactory

What video card can i buy for my computer ? I have a HP Pavilion a1120n . It already has an internal video card , but i want to upgrade . Its a Intel (R) 82915G / GV / 910GL Express Chipset with 128 mb...

I suggest you install an AGP video card that suits your requirements. If you play games that require a powerful graphics card, then I recommend the G Force range of graphics cards. A computer shop can recommend to you a graphics card depending upon what programs you are running on your computer. The games programs usually recommends a graphic card with their games.
Don't forget to disable/turn off the on-board graphics card in the BIOS if you use an external graphics card.

ATI Radeon 1650x Problem in Installation

This one is simple, the computer's stock powersupply which is probally at about 250 or 180 watts isnt generatiing enough power to the Vcard. Basically you need to purchase a higher watt power supply, you can get a decent 400+ watt for under 40 dollars almost anywhere.  Just a simple swap will do the trick.

Help with graphics

you can't do because those games require builtin directx 9, pixel shader v 3.0 and other stuff

The Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset family is compatible with versions of Microsoft* DirectX* up to 9.0. Support for previous versions of DirectX (8.x, 7.x, 6.x and 5.x) is also available.

In conclusion, if you want to play those games you must buy a better videocard

Mental problem/insufficiant tec knowledge

Video cards are definitely more for people who are into multimedia and video gaming.

The main reason to upgrade your video card is to take the graphical work that the computer does away from your main processor so it can do other things. Video cards are made up of two things, a processor and memory. So say you are watching a movie on your computer, and you dont have a seperate video card processor or video memory on your motherboard. When you play that movie, all the multimedia information must be processed through your processor and the data must be stored in your memory (RAM). This takes away from other things that your computer could be doing for you while you watch your movie. So by having this extra video card, you are able to run your multimedia information (such as games, pictures, or anything else that you see on the screen) much faster while the computer can focus on other things like running your word processor or your web browsing.

A more technical explination and history can be found here...

I hope this helped.
