My grandaughter has a black screen and green power light within about 1/2 second of powering on the SDM-HS73 monitor. She had a green screen with a loose cable to he PC and she tightened and checked cables. I also checked the cable and disconected power tro the monitor for 20 seconds. Picture is good for a moment whenever power is toggled. Monitor is about 4 to 5 years old.
I checked screen saver (10 minutes and set for pipes). I updated default driver from CD. No luck. Did see a waiting icon for a moment when screen saver would have displayed and scrren saver was there on power toggle wiew (the viewing moment). Ran anti-virus also. Nothing bad is obvious at the PC. It seems to be a problem in the monitor itself, such as power save kicking in immediately.

- Thanks Bratty. I assume you mean the monitor power supply. I will open it and check the capacitor. JerryD

-   I have a similar problem as JerryD. My monitor is 3 and 1/2 years old with less than 1500 hours in use. Starting a couple of days ago my monitor when switched on does power on with green light staying, however it will show only a moment (maybe 1/10th of a second) of image on the screen. If it is not connected to a pc and it is switch on then the image that will show is kind of short red, green and maybe yellow lines appearing on the screen but only for about 1/10th of a second. I have tried Sony's recommendation and of course that does not fix it. All connections appear okay. Nothing that maybe overheating can be sensed. Does anyone out there have any solution? Help and thanks. NestorFMF-   NestorFMF

-   I have the same problem, Bratty, do you have any pics on which one it is?
even after you replace the cap it still wont be fixed because the bad cap overpower the to transistors these also need to be replaced the number is something like c7506 they wont take more power for long so these will most likely all so be bad depending on manifacture date the transister part numbers do change.but are close to that. I repair these lcd problems alot in my computer shop.
