Lead wires broken - OTC 3183 Digital Battery Tester

Most of these machines (would have to have serial number to be sure) will not feed if their is no output voltage, since part of the motor voltage comes from the arc voltage.
So, I would suspect broken wires, either in the work lead or the gun. If it arcs just a little, probably the gun. One place the work lead breaks is right at the back of the clamp. Pull on the insulation and see if it "stretches". If so, the wire there is broken.

If you have no spark at your plug, check your spark plug lead. Make sure it isn't broken or cracked. Check the wires from your coil make sure they aren't broken or cracked or have rusted connections. Scroll down this page and you will find a wiring diagram.

you might have messed it up when you replaced the lead... or knocked another wire loose.... make sure you use the same gague wire when you replace em.

There is a broken wire in the lead. You can replace the cord or locate the broken wire/s break the lead at this point and rejoin the wires. Make sure the joins do not short against each other. This joint may look a bit untidy.

If the lead is broken, depending on which saw it is, you can buy a replacement lead. Unscrew the wire from the ignition module and screw in the new one after you put the end and boot on it. If it doesn't unscrew then you will have to buy a new module

PROBLEM Engine fails to start. CAUSE - REMEDY No fuel in tank - Fill tank. Spark plug shorted or fouled - Replace spark plug. Spark plug is broken. (cracked porcelain or electrodes broken) - Replace spark plug. Ignition lead wire shorted, broken, or disconnected from spark plug - Replace lead wire or attach to spark plug. Ignition inoperative - Contact authorized service center.

Remove the lead completely from the welder and remove the tip Strip all of the insulation off of larger piece of copper electrica wire (probably #12) and push it through the lead. You need to use the largest size copper wire that will fit in the lead so that the stuk wire does NOT jam against the inside of the lead. It is a **** shoot as to whether or not you can clear the lead to the weld head. If you know you folded the wire inside the lead you can try making a "tight" hook with a piece of the wire weld wire to try and hook the piece that folded over. Good Luck!
