Problem for IBM 4247 Model A00 Matrix Printer

4247 goes from printing okto printing gibberish mid page.

We have a 4 month old 4247 that is printing data from an AS/400 via an ethernet network & T1 line. It will be printing fine and then, midpage, it will start printing out mostly p's, q's and r's seperated by commas. Sometimes it will work for several weeks before messing up. Sometimes only hours. The AS/400 experts at HQ says that it is the printer... any ideas?

- It ended up being a defective printer cable. Have a good one.

- I am actually using a 4342, however it looks exactly the same running on an AS/400 system. The printer stops on an 056 Machine error shortly after its restarted due to locking up. After flashing the error it goes into a "Not Ready" state and connot come out of it, the "Ready" button does not respond, nor does the "Online" button until its hardbooted then in repeats this cycle.- dt0702

Also try cleaning the Printhead home sensor with a cotton bud or compressed air
