Re: to dismantle the dell e153 15 inch monitor

The front and rear of the case is held together with latch and hook type fasteners, this is how I cracked mine apart.Remove the 4 screws holding the stand on the back of monitor, start with either bottom corners and insert a flat head screwdriver or similar soft object such as a wooden popcicle stick into the crack and work your way up the side to the top, then across the bottom, and up other side to top, I then ease the case apart at the top with no effort.

Re: to dismantle the dell e153 15 inch monitor

Slide in a flat headed screwdriver into the side of the monitor in the join of the plastic and gently twist it to push both sides of the plastic apart

Re: to dismantle the dell e153 15 inch monitor

There are no screws. Believe it or not, you have to pry it apart, and some of them can be pretty difficult! :-)

Start at the bottom where you see the small squares and gently pry that apart. Then you move up the sides, I slide a flat bladed screwdriver up an unsnap the catches, they can be pretty tough.

The screen on my computer (dell E153FP 15" lcd) keeps going black everytime I turn it on. I can still see a very dark picture and the green light is still on but I can't see much. Usually I just turn it...

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for:
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

I'm trying to hook up the e153fp to a dell latitude lap top. What are the settings that I should use for this configuration? the e153fp doesn't like the display settings.

By going to I was able to pull up the user guide for the E153FP and read the specs to determine that the monitor has a screen resolution of 1024x768. The previous monitor had a higher resolution and this is why the E153FP would not display correctly.
Thanks for your response to my posting.

Dell monitor wh 320

Just done mine and the plastic case/frame is secured with clips all the way around.
Remove the stand/bracket screws
Place the panel on its top edge and look down on the underside join.
You will see two small notches where you can get a pen knife/lever in. Dont poke in too far especially where the buttons are.
Now lever the back off the front by leaning your knife/lever in the same direction as the screen front. Once you have the first clips free you can work all the way around in the same way taking care not to damage the plastic much.

I hope that helps someone else who is stuck like me at first and found this Q unanswered and eventually I decided I had nothing to loose lol.

Lcd monitor goes white

The E151FPb's seem to have a problem of this sort. After doing some research online I've found that the most common problem is a few dry solder joints on the large circuit board inside the monitor. There was also some talk of a connector suffering from heat creep that sound be connected better on the inside, but usually that would make the screen turn black if it were to become disconnected. The monitor can be opened by unscrewing all the screws on the back, there should be 6 screws you need to pull out before being able to open the case. After those, insert a thin, but strong piece of metal into the side and sort of twist/slide it along the side and it should pop open some clips and just work your way around the perimeter. After that it's just some simple and obvious screws to get to the circuit boards.
