Re: 2wire Router cannot connect to K Corp KLS-611 adapter...

If you wantd to change the type of encryption from WEP to WPA...aside from accessing the modem through ip is used on 2wire1000hg series, 2wire1800hg, 1701hg, 2701hg-b and 2700hg-b

*then you might need to indicate the modem password
*if you know it...indicate so, if not, click on the link that says "I forgot password", it would give you a hint...if you still forgot it, click on "I still forgot password"
*after that you need to click on "home network" which is the icon on the top portion of the page
*then you need to click on "wireless settings"
*under "wireless security" you would be able to change the "authentication", whether it is WEP-OPEN, or WPA-PSK"

- you could also go to: for help, just go to the support section
- or you could also see some simulators if you need one on

There may be a reset button on the back of the router that will set all of its settings to default. If there is it will probably be the kind you need a paper clip to press.

Lost the set up cd for 2wire 1701 hg gateway. how can I get another one?

I suggest you contact 2wire support here, and ask about getting a replacement. Either that or contact your ISP, who sold you the modem. They may have a replacement available.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

I use 2wire 1701 HG Gateway for 3 computers. I have been using a Plug and Play network with a password. My primary computer harddrive crashed. I had the drive replaced, but I have been unable to reconnect...

Hello hopefully ican hel solve your issue i have a 2wire modem myself ans have found that 2wire products are very picky. To answer your question for 2wire products when you try to connect wirelessly it wants you to type in the wep key which is the serial number of the product otherwise you are unable to connect. Now as far as losing your password if you are able to get into the 2wire product via browser so you can bring up the main software page you can try to see if you can get too any info that relates to resetting your info like username and password. Otherwise do a search for your product and search forums and you will most likely find someone that has had to recover there info and they will tell you how they do it. Good luck

2 wire 2700 hg-b

The 2Wire 2700 is a residential gateway, a modem and router in-one. There is an RJ-11 jack in the back of the gateway and this is where your dsl phone cord plugs in. There are four RJ-45 jacks in the back for connecting devices using ethernet cable. As a router is can operate both wirelessly and wired. For wireless operation you'll need the WEP key which is located on the tag on the bottom of the gateway. It's the number enclosed in brackets, between the two bar codes.

Connecting 2wire router with desktop pc and laptop

hi! try to check the settings on your 2wire modem, you can do this by going to, run the system setup wizard, when you get to the ppp authentication page, check the username & password on it, it should be the one that you setup for your ISP account. as for the wireless on the desktop, it depends on the brand of the wireless adapter, be sure you have installed the drivers for this adapter. you may need to go to the client utility manager or the wireless adapter shortcut/icon on your computer screen then configure it to "see" the 2wire network. make sure wireless encryption is turned on in the 2wire modem's MDC, you can do this by going to homeportal/management, or go to

If you want to setup wireless network then......
you need to config your router for wireless network..
for that you need to open router configuration page or either you can run the disc you got with your router..
in that it gives you an option of wireless network..
it will ask you to type in a network name ssid give any name you wish to your network..
it will also ask you to type in a password for network...
choose wpa-psk security and type any secure password in 8to 63 charactersand apply and once it's done...
now if you're on windows xp then click start>then control panel>network connections>then rt click wireless network connections and click view available wireless networks there you'll find your network name ssid in it select it and press will ask for your 8-63 characters password type in the same press connect it will say connected..
unplug ethernet cable and try opening pages ie..

If you're on vista then click start>connect to>rest is same as above...

2wire 2700 HG - Many problems and can't reset it!

you need to set up the 2 wire using an RJ45 ethernet cable and not wirelessly initially, and you need to set your ethernet lan adapter to obtain an ip address automatically and then type the default in your browser to get in the settings and then set or enable dhcp, and also enable wireless as by default it is dissabled and check the the adsl light is lit

Some 2wire routers normally come with WPA-PSK security already set up with the passkey on a sticker on the side of the router, so that may be why it stays set when you reset it.

Check that your wireles adapter is using the same type of security when you enter the passkey when wirelessly connecting.
