Re: Xbox 360 red rings of death!
When someone say that his/her Xbox is having 3 red lights
problem, It means it needs to be repaired. If you are using Cooler than
it is not a cure but a prevention. You could have used cooler before
acutally having the problem just to prevent your Xbox. But now you will
have to either get it repaired from Microsoft (in case your Xbox's
warranty is not expired, but one thing to note is that you will have to
wait for at least 3-4 weeks to get back your Xbox) or you can Fix your
Xbox's 3 Flashing red lights problem yourself with the help of DIY Video guide available on Internet. You can fix yourself without any technical knowledge. ,...
I suggest using three copper pennies per Ram chip.
Use a slight amount of reusable adhesive to stick the pennies together and then to adhere to the ram chips. Note: Do not screw the black screws back onto the bottom of 360, just the silver screws.
Also use pennies made before 1983, they're %100 Copper and make better heat sinks.

Over on another forum they listed how to decipher what your Xbox360 is trying to tell you when you get the three rings of light. There is a code that will flash if you hold down the "Synch" button (White button near the memory slot) and press the DVD Eject button. You will notice the quadrant of lights illuminate and each time you press the eject button you will get a different code.
It breaks down to this:
All four lights illuminate = 0 One Light = 1 Two Lights = 2 Three Lights = 3
Turn on your "dead" xbox. Wait for the 3 red lights. Once you get them hold the "Synch" button and the eject button down simultaniously. All four lights flash. (0) Press the eject button again and only one light (1) press again and all four light up (0) press again and two lights (2). Error code is 0102. compare this code to the table below to find out what is wrong with your X360. Is it overheating? Power Cord? Hardware?
The Code I got is 0102 which means the computer does not know the problem as it is not hardware or heating or anything like that. Could be dust, loose solder or static! I use a can of compressed air and my X360 IS BACK!!!!!! I do not know for how long but I played last night for several hours and had not one Hiccup. This after a whole week of the dreaded RINGS OF DEATH!!
Yes, the three red flashing lights mean nothing else than "Red Ring of Death" (general hardware failure). You can post your xbox to home rapair "centers" but I wouldn't recomend that. When my x360 broke for the first time I sent it to some guy who was supposed to be "pro". I waited for 3 weeks an end up paying way to much than I should. It broke down again after a year and I decided to tray and repair it myself.
The most common mistake that beginners make is that they buy tutorials and repair sets from diffrent websites. (Diferent repair guides require diffrent repair tools). I tried a few of them and I think this X360 Fix Kit is simply the best thing you can get for the price. You'll get evreything you need with repair kit and easy to foolow lessons. Good luck.
Did you do the towel trick for your RROD? or did you do the erasor fix? because the towel trick wil eventually kill your 360 and if you did the erasor fix or any other Do-it-yourself fix that keeps the gpu from coming loose then what ever is keeping it from becoming loose might be too thick and cause stress on your motherboard which can freeze up the system at any time.
you need to go over the mainboard with a heatgun in a circular motion 2-3 inches away from it. pay attention to around the cpu, gpu and memory chips and you will end up re-seating the solder and should fix this better for you. i dont know what you did to fix it in the first place but i can say that errors like the 3rrod really benefit from taking your time when doing the fix and making sure everything is covered.
Shutting off the Xbox corrupted the Hard Drive... Have you ever got a Live System Update? You can also reset your Xbox without shutting it off using the controller. You probably have the Three Red Rings of Death... Go to this...
if games are freezing check the discs if it is not the game then you may need to clear your cashe data do so by going to system selecting memory then selecting hard drive then pressing y then by using the following combonation x,x,lb,rb,x,x then the system will prompt you to choose yes or no perform system maintenance then just choose yes this should work if not you may need to send it in to microsoft for repairs. the cashe clearing worked for me
This is called the 3 rings of death and is well known amongst xbox users. including me... Ive had 1 xbox replaced because of it. Try the following to diagnose the issue. All four lights illuminate = 0 One Light = 1 Two Lights = 2 Three Lights = 3
Turn on your "dead" xbox. Wait for the 3 red lights. Once you get them hold the "Synch" (for the wireless remote) button and the eject button down simultaniously. All four lights flash. (0) Press the eject button again and only one light (1) press again and all four light up (0) press again and two lights (2). Error code is 0102. compare this code to the table below to find out what is wrong with your X360. Is it overheating? Power Cord? Hardware? what ever the code is refer to this list for the reason it is flashing...
The Code he got was 0102 which means the computer does not know the problem as it is not hardware or heating or anything like that. Could be dust, loose solder or static! He used a can of compressed air and his X360 IS BACK!!!!!! He did not know for how long but he played several hours after and had not one Hiccup. This after a whole week of the dreaded RINGS OF DEATH!!
after you diagnoe the code get back to me and ill tell you the problem and how to fix it.
try to keep the box in a spot where it and the power brick can stay cool.... same thing happened to my first box eventually it got the rings of death like so many other xboxs out there... so if keeping it well aired dont work you need to ring micro soft and have it sent off for repairs before it suffers a system failure
