My machine won't turn on

I just used this machine three days ago and use it often
Everything seems assembled correctly

  • Anonymous Apr 30, 2009

I used it just yesterday. And today I can't get it to turn on. I checked everything, electricity, safety switch in place, etc.
What could make it stop working just like that???
It is a 2 speed Hamilton Beach Scovill 702-4.
Just some more ideas what else I can do.
    Thank you.

I solved it myself. I kept re-assembling it over and over and kicked it a little. Something must have jolted lose. Because it suddenly turned on. I just wonder, if the more knowledgeable folks out there realize something I don't? Maybe the switch is getting on the blink?? I should not have to jolt it to get it to work. But, anyway, that's what helped in my case.

Kitchenaid food processor KFI 1325 brand new first use and won’t turn on

Make sure you have the bowl, lid and sometimes the pusher assembled correctly. If everything is not correct it will not activate the safety switch to allow it to start up.

KFP0711 Kitchenaid food processor won’t turn on even when put together. Just opened and never been used.

Read the handbook and make certain you are assembling the bowl, lid and pusher correctly, they can all play a part in activating the safety mechanisms that put the appliance in the mode that will allow it to be started.

I have a kitchen aid food processor, it is on, but motor doess no

This sounds like an issue relating with the assembly of the machine. The motor is definitely getting power if the indicator is lit. However, Kitchenaid food processors are designed (as a safety feature) to remain unengaged if the unit is not assembled in such a way. Here is the proper assembly:

Please disassemble the unit. This means: removing the blade, removing the work bowl, the work bowl cover, and unplugging the unit.

Starting with the work bowl: place the handle at the 9 o'clock position, which is out to the left. Rotate downward to the 6 o'clock position until it locks in, centered over the button panel.

Repeat the process with the work bowl lid.

Depending on which food processor you have, you may need the feed tube pusher depressed at least half way down the feed tube.

Plug in the unit. The blade does not have be installed for unit it to work at this point, assuming everything is assembled properly and the motor is functioning. The motor should now be working.

Cuisinart dlc-7 superpro food processor won't run.

The DLC-7 SuperPro is awesome -- very powerfull. Be aware they are 1.5 horsepower; the blade can take your hand completely off in a blink of an eye. Because of the potential danger, SAFEGUARDS are in place such that everything must be aligned and in correct position or it WILL NOT POWER-UP. So, yes, is very likely the safety switch.

Simple test: Use just the BASE, (no work bucket, no top, no blades), such that if it starts, only the spindle will turn. There is a little black button on the base, just back of the spindle. Use a chop-stick to depress it. Plug-in, press the button w/chop-stik, press the PULSE button. It should power up.

Presuming it powered up okay, the "problem" is probably in how the unit is assembled; such that the button is depressed properly.
1. The work bowl must be all the way down on the base, and the alignment column in the back, work bowl base skirt turned to the "Hard Stop". It will feel very solid when docked properly.
2. The top inserts and rotates into and snaps into position while pressing the plunger into the button.

It all sounds too easy, but if something is just a little off, the plunger doesn't plunge ind the power doesn't go on.

These are FABULOUS machines -- spend the time into getting it working. The near- equivalent if something this robust and powerful in today's products will cost nearly a THOUSAND dollars - seriously.

The machine suddenly won't run!

I went through the same thing...as it turns out, everything was locked into place but I had the handle in the back rather than the front where the sensor is. Good luck. I hope that helps you.
