SOURCE: Wireless Button Disabled

After one month of trying everything, I finally figured this one out.  First turn off and restart your computer.  Then press F10 to enter the System BIOS Settings.  Select F9 (Setup Defaults) and when it asks Load Default Configuration Now? , Enter YES.  Then, press F10 (Save and Exit) and when it asks Save Configuration Changes And Exit Now, Enter YES.  This should restore the wireless LAN button to its original factory settings.  Once you restart the computer the button will be listed as disabled, but press on the button and it should work again.  I hope this helps someone else out!

SOURCE: HP Pavilion tx 2000 touchpad problems

Ok,The setting for the touch pad are not in the mouse settings,They are in the pen and input settings.

Just go to the control panel and select Pen and Input setting and adjust as needed.

Also with Vista,Windows tries to control everything,so you may need to un install the mouse drivers and allow windows to take control,It will not prevent the touch pad from working,It just stops it from being controlled by the touch pad driver and the windows mouse driver ar the same time.

Might need to take it apart and clean them. Did you spill something in there? Also make sure your mouse properties are set right click speed etc) in Control Panel. Can you double-tap the touchpad to make selections.

SOURCE: Mouse stopped working on Compaq Presario CQ57

The Touch pads the Mouse Pointer uses is pressure sensitive and sometimes without warning WILL fail to work I own a CQ50 And Have a On Off Option for the mouse pad Yours does not Apparently it Is a bad sensor If you have a warranty send it in If not best suggestion for you is buy a USB mouse and use it Otherwise trying to have it replaced without a warranty can be costly.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your help! No, that computer doesn't have an on/off button for the mouse pad like the previous model (I own both). I will try a plug in mouse and see if that works; if not, I will have to send it in for repair. Thank you again for helping me out!"

This is a compaq laptop with windows 7 that is password locked. Bought it like that need to try and get it unlocked so i can use it. Any thing i can do

Unlock Windows 7 Password by Third-party Software

If you don't have a password reset disk and can't access any administrative account on your win 7 computer, then you need to create a bootable disk with Windows Password Recovery Tool Standard (Click to download). You can download it on any other accessible PC, then burn it to a CD/DVD and then boot your computer from the disk and it allows you to unlock password Windows 7 instantly.

1. Download Windows Password Recovery Tool Standard and install it on any accessible computer.
2. Burn it onto a CD/DVD.
3. Boot your locked computer from the newly burned CD/DVD.
4. Wait until the boot process is finished. When a window pops up with all your Windows accounts, select a user account and click Reset Password button to reset your lost Windows 7 password.
5. Click the Restart button to reboot the win 7 computer, now you can log into your win 7 system without any password.

It is annoying when you forgot or lost your Windows 7 password. However, with the Windows 7 password unlocker (Click to know more info) solutions above, you can unlock your forgotten password and regain access to your Windows 7 OS easily and quickly.

In windows 7, I can't figure out how to turn "tap to click" off. There is no tapping tab. Can you tell me how to perform this task?

Step 1: To turn off the hover option on your Windows 7 laptop, click your Start button (bottom left of your screen), then type main.cpl in the search box and click Enter on your keyboard. You can also go to your Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, then choose Mouse beneath Devices and Printers.
Step 2: When the Mouse Properties box opens for your trackpad, choose the Device Settings tab to the far right, then click the Settings button below Devices.
Step 3: Double-click the word Tapping (or click the plus sign in front of Tapping once) in the list to the left, then uncheck Enable Tapping. Click OK for both boxes, and you're done. Now you can click when YOU want to click, not when your mouse decides to.

I would verify that you have the compaq drivers installed for the mouse pad NOT the microsoft defaults alot of the time they add functionally like the double tap click and things like that. The link is

My hp 4520s probook's mouse pad got locked accidentally, and it's not unlocking by double tapping on the light button on the mouse pad. please help me with this asap.

First, try double tapping the light again. You may have just mis-tapped.

Next try restarting the laptop. Certain laptops re-enable the track pad on restart so long as a USB mouse isn't connected.

If that fails, navigate to the Mouse Settings on your PC and re-enable it there. If you have a USB mouse you can use that. If not, you can use the keyboard. Windows Key will launch the Start Menu, arrow keys can highlight options, Enter will click on them, Control+Tab and Control+Shift+Tab will switch tabs (in a window that has tabs).

In Windows XP and 7 (and probably Vista), Mouse Settings is located at Control Panel > Mouse > Settings.

How do you unlock the mouse touch pad?

1. The touchpad and external mouse drivers should be able to work together. Just make sure that you have the touchpad enabled. To see if you have the touchpad enabled, hold the Fn key and press F9. The combination Fn-F9 locks and unlocks the touchpad. If pressing Fn-F9 once, twice, thrice does not seem to lock/unlock your touchpad.. then you might not have the Toshiba hotkeys working or enabled. So lets forget it and try step 2. If Fn-F9 solved your problem.. there you go !

Arrow The way it works is you have to keep holding Fn key and have to hit F9 once, that should lock the touchpad. Again if you keep holding Fn and hit F9 again, that should unlock it and so on..

2. Sometimes this solves the problem.. Do a power cycle of your computer.. i.e., unplug the AC.. take the battery out.. Plug the AC back in and try to turn computer ON with AC alone (i.e, leave the battery out and just start computer with AC power).. Once windows loads up and everything is fine, then turn system off. Unplug AC.. put battery back in.. Plug AC back in and restart computer.. All should be working now.. if not, keep reading..

3. Click on START>go to RUN>type devmgmt.msc

4. Now in the Device Manager, click on the + sign next to Mice and other pointing devices. Right click on each device listed under "Mice and other pointing devices" and Uninstall ALL the MOUSE Devices you see listed there..

attention Make sure you ONLY uninstall the Mouse devices and not ALL devices from Device Manager like your CD, Display etc.. Just uninstall the devices listed under Mice and Other pointing devices after you have clicked on the + sign to the left of it..

5. Go to http://support.toshiba.com there click on Downloads.. select your computer.. Product=Portable, Family=Satellite, Model=M35X-S149.. then click on "GO" button on the right.. Again in the next page that comes up click on "Downloads"..

6. In the page that came up saying Downloads ( All operating systems, All categories ), at the top drop the list Filter by Operating System and select Windows XP (I am assuming you have XP.. if you have another OS, select that instead).. then on the right of it, drop the list Filter by Category and select Touchpad.. then click on the button "Apply Filters"..

7. Now you just see two drivers listed..

09-30-2004 Toshiba Utility
Touchpad Toshiba Touchpad Enable/Disable Utility for Windows XP (v1.27.0.3; 09-24-2004; 5.34M)

06-15-2004 Driver
Touchpad Alps Touchpad Driver for Windows XP/2000 (v6.0.303.5; 05-26-2004; 2.43M)

Click on the Download link on the right.. Save them to your computer somewhere in a folder or desktop, where you can remember.. After the files are downloaded, double-click on the file.. Unzip.. then Run.. and it will install the driver..

8. Restart your computer.. Now the Touchpad should be working fine.. Try Fn-F9 combination.. i.e, keep holding Fn key and tap F9 once, twice to see if it locks/unlocks the touchpad..

If above doesnt solve it, then please post any errors that you get and I will see if we need to try something else.

Thanks for using fixya...
