Most dryers if and when they have issues can be traced to the circuit board main IC software or IC flaws. Replacing the board with a new or rebuild board usually fixes all

SOURCE: After first Ignition cycle igniter stays on too briefly to open gas valve gas.

Valid Most likely the problem with your dryer is the coils for the gas valve. Remove the access door (on the bottom right side on the front panel) and you can see the gas valve with three coils on top of it. They are coming as a kit with complete instruction. The part number for this kit is AP2669614.You can buy it here http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=SrmyP8LkIos&offerid=92089.542517043&type=10&subid=

I'll take a stab that you use dryer softener sheets. These will deposit a coating on the two metal sensor bars (about 4 inches long, very near the lint filter inside the drum) which prevents the sensor from "seeing" that the clothes are still wet, so the dryer jumps to the cool down portion of the cycle. Clean the metal bars off and it should work again. (note: the bars are not in the cycle if you choose time dry instead of using the automatic cycles)

SOURCE: Kenmore Gas Dryer Gets Hot, Shuts Off Early in Cycle

Sounds like a faulty high limit or cycling thermostat. The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a certain temp. It should be mounted on the exhause duct inside the back of the dryer. It should look something like the one in the picture:

Hope this helped and best wishes.

SOURCE: LG DLG5988W Gas Dryer (NO HEAT)

I'm pretty sure that the cooling light is always on and blinks when it is cooling. I look at my brother's and he has the EQ bar and it acts the same.

My gas dryer is 3 years old and it starts to heat up when it is turned on and then stops heating while running.

This is usually due to the two gas valve solenoid coils sitting on top of the gas valves, one with 3 prongs and the other has 2. The coils work fine when cool but one or both are weak and fail when get heated. Both coils must work to open the two gas valves in order for the dryer to fire up. The coils are not repairable and the only viable solution is replacing both of them. Replace the solenoid coils and it should solve the problem.

Dryer blows cool, not hot, air

Clean the burner exhaust and intake vents of dust and lint. Make sure the gas is turned on to the machine. Watch the burner while trying to dry clothes--the igniter should turn red, then the main valve should open to start the burner. If the plate turns red, but no fire, the control valve assembly may need to be replaced. Is the unit under warranty? If so, you may need to take advantage. Hope this helps!

Hello, This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. The dryer has a resettable SAFETY thermostat located on the flame tube inside the dryer. LG recommends replacing the Safety and High limit thermostats if the Safety thermostat is tripped. The dryer Glow bar igniter could be bad as well as the gas valve or Main computer. Time to have the dryer serviced by a qualified LG tech. LG has factory service tech in most large cities. Give them a call at 1 800 243-0000.

Hope this helps.

Hello Friend, Your problem is very simple to fix. You're dryer needs a gas valve coil kit. To replace coils just remove front of dryer body and look below drum you will see the gas valve. The valve coils are located on top of valve (two little round black cylinders). It's simple, just remove the two screws from the little metal bracket that holds them down, unplug the wires from them and just lift them straight up off of the valve. Take notice that one has 3 wires and one has 2 wires. Just replace with new coils and plug wires back in and re-fasten metal bracket. Your dryer will run like new. Happy to help, Tim. And please don't forget to give me your rating for my help. Thanks!

First, check to see if there is strong air flow out the house at the exterior dryer vent. It is very important to have good air flow for gas dryers. Second, if you do have good air flow and you do get ignition but the burner shuts down quickly and won't relight, the most likely cause is the coils on the gas valve. They heat up when current passes through them and can open up electrically. When they cool down, the process can repeat. The coils for LG gas valves are not available as separate parts. You have to order a complete gas valve, but you can then take the coils off the new valve and swap them out onto the original valve so you don't have to change out the entire valve. If you need instructions on how to get at the gas valve, let me know (with your model number).

Remember, check your air flow first !
Please rate this solution once you have completed your repair. Thanks.

If your vent is clear (strong flow of air at vent outlet outside) then you have a bad gas valve. I have seen this a few times on LG gas dryers. You really only need one of the coils on the gas valve, but they are not available individually. You have to get the entire valve.
