SOURCE: How do I hook up a Sony Handycam Video 8 CCD-TRV41 NTSC to view on television?
I still have my CCD-TRV41 and the manual intack. You will just need a audio/video cable (2-colored or 3-colored) to view your movies.

This is the only solution that I have found that really works. The only problem is you need access to a computer running XP. On the Sony website they have drivers for XP. The XP drivers work for Vista, but vista will not let you install them normally. So on an XP computer goto the sony website and download the xp drivers and install them on the xp computer. Then all you need to do is go into your C: drive and there will be a folder called "Drivers" in that folder you will see the sony usb folder. Just copy it, onto a disc or thumb drive. then copy the folder to your vista computer. You can put it anywhere, I jsut put it on the desktop for easy access. Then plug in your usb cable for the camcorder, let it try to install, then it will give you an option to sellect the files yourself, browse to the folder you coppied onto your desktop and Viola, Vista will find the drivers and install them. you now can use the usb connection on your camcorder.
if you are having a hard time finding the files, email me and I will send them to you.

SOURCE: i am having a sony hi 8 ccd trv 58 model handycam.
CCD-TRV58 is analog camcorder and can not be connected with computer directly as camcorder does not have USB or iLink/ DV ports.
Computer needs digital format movie data to store / edit files.
You need to hook camcorder audio-video out to DVD recorder and burn DVD of camcorder movie so you will get digital format of movie. Put that DVD in computer and copy files for further process.

Hi there.
The computer must have standard Audio/Video (A/V) RCA input jacks and
compatible video capture software to complete this procedure.
Because there are many different video capture applications on the
market and we cannot reasonably know which video capture software you
are using, Sony is unable to provide specific instructions or support
for software we do not manufacture.
However, many video capture applications have detailed help files,
including specific instructions about capturing and importing video
from a camcorder to a computer.
The help files should be available in the Help menu of the
video capture software or in a separate file on the software disc. If
you cannot find instructions in the help file or on the disc included
with your software, consult the software manufacturer for more detailed
support information.
Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!
If your camcorder has standard A/V RCA output jacks, use standard A/V cables for the connection.
If your camcorder has a mini A/V output jack, use an A/V cable with a mini connection on one end.
