I'm actually going to post a solution to this problem, since I figured it out today and I want to share the solution with others who are pulling their hair out — like I was.

- Okay, here's what I figured out today. The yellow plastic tape that runs across the top of the Epson ink cartridges actually serves a purpose — it lets air in there when printing. No air, no ink output, which means no printing. Here's the thing, I did pull the tape off, but a clear layer of the tape, like cellophane thick, stayed on there and kept it air tight. So after I figured it out I cut the clear layer, and made sure air could get in there through the channel molded into the plastic. No a seeming dead ink cartridge works fine. How that helps someone. I've never seen this tip anywhere online, and I looked all over.
And if you're having trouble with a suddenly, seemingly dead Epson 740 that has all the lights blinking, I found a solution for that today too. Look for my other posting. Scott
