Intermittent mis-fire, stuttering at cruise speed and

Occasional stalling at idle on 1993 Cadillac De Ville 4.9L .Check engine light off, no fault codes. Replaced fuel filter and checked fuel delivery system. Local garage claims that running engine whilst scrolling through scan tool diagnostics produces code for "cam sensor" sometimes, but code re-sets on ignition cycle. Dealer and parts jobber stores have no listings for cam sensor for this engine, but performing diagnostic test using "All-Data" procedures identifies an unmarked component within the distributor. (All-Data calls it a cam sensor, too)
Can any-body help?

My 1998 Eldorado was doing the same untill i replaced the spark plugs, i would try that.

This is often caused by hard engine mounts and a dirty idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Clean the intake following these instructions, that should improve the idle issue.
Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (it is made by CRC) from the local auto parts store, NEVER USE CARB CLEANING SPRAY, IT DESTROYS THE ANTI-STICK TEFLON COATING, spray it into the air intake through the throttle body of the engine until you have used about half the can, you will need to hold the idle up while you do this, it will try to stall, after this shut the engine down and disconnect the Negative (-) battery cable for 5 minutes.

Trying to location part for a 1997 Cadillac De ville lighting control module which is suppose to be under the back seat. Due to no cruise control and no brakes lights. Have everything else that works.

there is a multi control module panel mounted under the rear seat they are located on the passenger side their are four or five module units mounted on the panel

1989 Cadillac Sedan De Ville engine stalls when air is turned on...tries to take off when stopped at stoplight..sometimes dies while driving..

It sounds like the idle compensation circuit for the engine is dirty or faulty. Have your car checked at a shop. have them check the idle air motor for dirt or malfunction. It could be that it only needs to be cleaned or replaced.

The compensation circuit adjusts the idle/slow speed of the engine. The air conditioner puts a load on the engine and this circuit adjusts the engine speed to compensate. Also, when the car is cold this circuit adjusts the idle speed to prevent stalling and help the engine warm up faster. I hope this information helps you.

Random lights coming on in the dash and stalling occasionally

See if you can find out if there is a code for the check engine lite and the abs, those can be related if the speed sensor located on the top of the rear axle is intermittantly failing. That sensor sends the speed signal to the pcm and the abs controler witch will also turn off the cruise control.

if your EGR valve is stuck open its adding "false" air into the cylinders. (just like a vacuum leak) the engine will raise its idle speed to prevent the engine from stalling at idle. the EGR should not be open at idle.
