Question about Scanport GEM 1770DF (White) 17 in.CRT Conventional Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor squiggle I have a Gem 770 monitor purchased in 1999. It has served me well until now. Don't understand adjustments. The picture is distorting.

Mine does the same thing, particularly noticible on fine text, which seem to "squiggle" or look as if they are under water.

    Which adjustment fixes this? Thanks!

If it is adjustment problem then you will have to check it with operating manual picture distortion might be due to horizontal section also if adjustment does not serve the purpose. if you are not a tech person get it done by tech person.

Need to reconnect internal video cables

I don't understand what you are trying to say, but this is what I think you're saying. The onboard video card went bad and now you need to put in another one so that you can connect the monitor.

If that's true, you don't put another video card on the motherboard. You go out and purchase a Video Card that goes into one of the available PCI Slots on the back of the computer. It goes inside, but sticks out the back so you can connect the cable from the monitor to it.

I have a 17" Gem

Hello,
You shouldn't need to install software for a monitor to work. What you may have to do though, is configure your display settings to allow an external display. Your laptop might have a function key to do this. Try clicking the function key + the key that looks like a monitor display on your laptops keyboard. This should activate the external display port. You might also try going into the control panel, select display and enable the secondary display. Also a 17 inch display probably has a screen resolution of 1024x768 or 1280x1024 so make sure you don't set the resolution any higher then that or the display might not show anything.

Hi I have a Gateway FHD2400 LCD monitor. Everything work fine but all buttons (inlude power and all select buttons) doesn't work.

If the control panel for the monitor does not respond there is no way to replace this. The monitor would have to be replaced if you desire that functionality.
However if the monitor turns on (without the need of the power button) and you do not need to adjust any of the settings then I would use the monitor until it could no longer serve its purpose.
Check the warranty status of the monitor and if it is under warranty you could get a replacement with a properly functioning control panel.

Power Issues!

The AC adapter will go into shut down mode if the monitor is drawing too much current due to short circuits in the monitor, but it can also be bad caps in the power supply itself. You can try new adapter or check inside the monitor for shorted components.

I have a GEM 17" with power issues!

Sounds like your power supply capacitors are causing the power supply to shut down. Or you have a short in the monitor loading the power supply. You should try a different power supply.
