Hello there,
*********** board has an Integrated Intel GMA X4500 graphics, maximum shared memory of 1G, it should be automatically disabled if the pcie slot detects a video card but some mother board embedded gpu runs with the pcie card unless disabled in the bios.
Do you have plans on running a SLI (Scalable Link Interface) linking two or more gpu to produce a single output on *********** board. why SLI? because you already hae a GTS 450 GPU but you cant do this configuration because *********** board has a single pcie slot.
If you have plans on running a pci gpu with your GTS 450 it should, but if you encounter any problem try manually assigning IRQ's and resources through the BIOS? I don't have this specific
board.
Hopefully this information helps.
Thanks you for using FixYa.
Have you disabled the on-board graphics adaptor in the BIOS, which is usually entered by pressing Delete Key or F2 at power on. You will obviously have to move your monitor lead back to the original port while ou do this in order to be able to see the screen for the BIOS and find the option to Disable the On-Board Graphics
A Geforce 6200LE would work perfectly with that motherboard, all you have to do is clip it into the AGP8x slot and disconnect your monitor VGA cable from the onboard graphics and into the 6200LE graphics card. Once the Graphics card is inserted correctly and plugged in your sytem automatically disables onboard graphics as it is no longer needed.
Usually you need to disable the on-board video/activate the AGP slot in the BIOS before adding the video card. (Check your manual for entering the BIOS - often hit F1 or F2 (or enter when prompted) as you start the computer before the OS starts loading.)
I have no idea how you see the BIOS information without a working video to start.
A couple of suggestions, in case you over looked them.
1) Get into BIOS and make sure the on board is disabled there. I've have trouble before when I missed it. 2) If the old one is showing on your Device Manager, Disable it but dont uninstall it. Then remove any drivers for it.
If you have added a new graphics card it should automatically select this new card.
If it doesnt, you can go in to the bios and disable the onboard graphics card from there.
For example, Onboard graphics can usually be refered to in the bios as PCI, so if you've added an AGP card or PCI-E card then you would just need to select either one of these from the bios menu.
Not sure what bios your using but it may even have ann option to disable onboard graphics.
jumper settings for old graphic needs to be disabled or in the bios settings the on board vga settings need to be disabled this will allow the other new card to be ran as the dominent only video card
jumper settings are tricky
but bios settings are easy just find vga and disable on board video thats it save and boot
The answer is yes. You need to change the on-board video (Known as PCI), & set it to AGP page 36 in you're manual. This setting will be under Integrated Peripherals.
You will also gain back system memory that the on-board video was taking from you're main system memory for it to work.
At start up of the PC press the delete key every two seconds to enter the bios menu. Go to the Advanced menu & find Integrated Peripherals. There is not a disable (per-say), all you do is set it to AGP. That's it.
