Re: Cannot find usb download lead for the Samsung NV7...
The plug-in charger does not come with a usb cable? What i have is a detachable dual purpose usb cable. One that can be attached via usb to the charger and can be connected to any usb port of a laptop or a desktop.
I was wondering because it should come with the package.

If you need a manual you may download a copy at http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200802/20080223125008687_NV7_ENG.pdf The charging time depends on how you connect the charger. Be aware that not all computer USB ports put out enough current to charge a battery. Pages 11 and 12 give information about charging the battery. You don't need to download any special software. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or, despite what I said earlier, you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

Samsung say this has a USB 2 port. Maybe it is behind a door or has a rubber plug in it. It will be a mini-USB socket, not a big one like on the computer, and a lead should have come with the camera. If you are using a "charger" lead that plugs into a USB port on the computer, than that also serves as the USB connection.
People often find it simpler to remove the memory card from the camera and plug it into a cord reader on the computer to transfer files. Newer computers have card readers built in, but if yours doesn't, you can get a little SD card reader for a quid at Poundland. However, this camera uses micro-SD cards, so you will also need an adapter to get it to fit an SD reader slot. If you aren't using a card, then you will have to use the USB lead to transfer pics from the camera's built in memory.
You CANNOT charge a camera through a USB port there just is not enough power! you need to get an original wall charger and power up from that. Even the USB cable/wall charger will NEVER charge it up sufficiently. The USB cable is for data transfer only.
The USB connection will not charge the battery. Both the AC charger and the USB plug into the narrow connector on the bottom of the camera. If your sister has misplaced the USB cable and/or the AC charger, you can order replacements from http://www.samsung.com/us/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP01&prd_ia_cd=04010200&prd_mdl_cd=&prd_mdl_name=DIGIMAX+I6
You can also download the manual from the same page.
My son has a Samsung digital camera and bought a Samsung SAC-45 USB Digital Camera Charger and a Samsung USB Data & Charger Cable Type4 SUC-C2.
He is able to charge his camera by plugging the cable into a USB outlet on his computer, but cannot get the camera to charge when using the SAC-45, which plugs into a wall 110 volt AC socket on one end and the cable on the other.
So far we have tried three SAC-45 units, keeping the same cable, and Samsung says they are shipping a fourth SAC-45 unit.
I think there is some problem with the cable, but haven't been able to get Samsung to send another cable.
