Usb 2.0 driver update needed for winxp? i have to uninstall/reinstall to use my modem what is causing this? Every time after installation i restart to use internet modem and thei get the same result. No...

Do you remove the modem, if it is external, before installing the software? If it is internal, try to deselect it before installing the software.
Other options are to do this right after a clean restart, or try it in Safe Mode.
More information is needed to give a better chance of success.
Also, make sure you have all Windows Upgrades installed before doing the USB installation. It depends upon a number of system files which must be the most recent ones, or you will continue to see the results you are getting.
I do hope this helps you.

Window7 installation

1) you have to make sure that you have ALL the required Windows 7 drivers for your Laptop AND additional devices/application (eg. Wifi adapter, Modems, USB DTV, External Keyboard, etc). 2) get and install a 'Windows 7 UPGRADE' for your current Operating system. (Check for free upgrade?) 3) Windows XP mode (and native Virtual PC) is only available if you upgrade to the Professional or Ultimate versions AND your CPU and BIOS support 'Hardware Virtualization' ... even my Intel Dual Core T4200 processor does not support this feature!!!
Hope it helps: let me know how you go!

I don't have driver usb hfs modem, how toget the driver ????

1. Where can I get drivers for my Rockwell/Conexant HCF or HSF modem for Windows XP, or I am having difficulty installing my modem in Windows XP?

Conexant has worked with Microsoft to ensure that many PCI modems are supported using a generic data/fax driver that is available on the XP distribution CD, therefore in the majority of cases your modem should automatically be detected and the generic driver correctly installed. Run the List Modem application ( found on the Modem Driver Assistance page to find out if your modem is supported in the inbuild driver on WinXP. If the answer to "WinXp Inbuild Support" is yes, then your modem will work after upgrading to WinXP even when you run the compatibility test before upgrading and you get a warning. However the XP distribution CD does not have drivers for Conexant USB modems or modems that interface to the PC using the AC-Link bus. The AC-Link bus is primarily used in notebook PC's and some desktop PC's. In these cases it is necessary to download the correct driver from the manufacturer before upgrading to XP. If you get the message shown below and you have a notebook PC use the links below to obtain XP drivers.

Example XP Error Message: xperror.gifIf you do not have one of these PC's it means that the current driver that you are using in your previous operating system is not compatible with Windows XP, however if you have a PCI modem it is very likely that your modem will be supported by the driver available on the distribution CD and will work when you upgrade to Windows XP, and you should proceed with the upgrade. Upgrading the OS Windows XP not possible

Upgrading from OS Windows XP:

you can upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista(ultimate, premium, home, business.......),
you have to buy a Windows Vista CD and install a fresh copy or format.

Some Minimum Requirements:

i) Min 2GB RAM or atleast 1GB RAM(if you have>1GB RAM installation of Windows Vista will not continue)

II) External Graphic Card. for some versions of Windows Vista(to run Aero Interface, special feature only   in some versions of Windows Vista)

"Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor" is a software from Microsoft which you can download from internet, this  can help you determine which features and edition of Windows Vista will run on your computer.

i.e., when u load this software on windows xp it will suggest which upgrade version of windows vista          will suit your system(based on you system configuration. or hardware components.) and then            you can install the upgraded version of windows xp(mostly windows vista home,.........)

Thanking You

Missing modem

what is XE3 circa 2002, 15 years young. wow.

XP is now 3 years dead, at microsoft.
why not at least upgrade to Win7. be wise to do that.
XP must have SP3, if not it will fail, and even with it it fail.
lots of USB devices for example will fail. here.
dial up, you dont run DSL.
ive not see dial up in 20 years. why dial up.?

if compelled to use dial up, you need a modem that XP understands
most of them it does not. nor will it ever,
there are 2 classes of modem. (DIAL up to POTS)
1: software modem (99% software, and a box) they SUX. all do.
2: hardware modem, best is USB. by
and A good dial up program,. windows dial up software stinks.

i see this is HP supported (was) modem
Agere systems soft PCI
it needs the driver to run that modem
does the number you dial buy hand (using a POTS phone)
dial up and answer and squeal? if not its hopeless that number
you need to pay for superscription service, and with a pass word.

why not get 10 year or newer PC, or get DSL to home
or cable modem with only 1 channel active, (slow like dialup)
for cheap. (im using 16channel now, as i type)

or buy a new modem and connect it and use the new modems
disk to install a nice dialer for you.
but finding one is not easy now.

the best modems, are Hayes, there hardware modems are like rock. i used them back in the ARPnet days and on amocat.

How can i load awindows xp on ibm 600e

I have done this many times.
To install XP on an IBM 600E , you needd to upgrade the RAM at least to 256MB.
Then use a Windows install disk to install XP.
After installing Windows you will have to update drivers from IBM website here: Lenovo Support & downloads - Drivers and software - ThinkPad 600 ...
There is no driver for 600E video adapter on XP, video performances will be limited.

Modem not working

Try downloading the modem drivers from here:

This is supposed to be the latest driver software for SmartLink modems for XP. (I know, if you can't get online, you can't get to the website to download! You probably have a friend or neighbor who can download it for you, then put it on a flash drive to transfer to your computer.)
