Re: pro com propane heaters

The info sheet from Northern Tool says this item is not approved for California. There is no mention about massachusetts but if you go to the procom site and do a search for specifications I'm sure you'll find something. For your information, propane heaters consume oxygen to operate but propane produces one gas, carbon dioxide NOT carbon monoxide [which is poisonous] and water vapor - about one ounce of water in a 24 hr heating period. Also be asvised that co-2 will not support life alone but the concentrations produced are very low. I'm in NY state and I use a MrHeat infrared heater in my house in the winter. My co-2 detector has NEVER tripped on.

I brougt glowarm space heater model HDB30PT for propane gas but I needed a natural gas space heater. Can I covert it to natural gas and how can do it for me

I'm sorry to report there is no gas conversion for your DESA heater. In fact, no vent-free (vent-less) gas heating appliance (that includes gas log sets) is approved to be converted from one gas type to another. If you bought it from a retail store, exchange it for a LP Gas Model or a refund.

Hope this answered your question and thanks for choosing FixYa.

We have a baby do we need to put a vent in with it?

You have more than the baby to worry about. The Reddy Heater model you listed IS NOT approved for indoor residential. It is a construction heater, designed for very large, uninsulated, open areas and very temporary use. Putting a vent in is not a solution, as there is no way to safely do it.

Be safe, buy a residential gas heater. If it's going to be a primary heat source, it must be a vented heater, as it will be operating 24 hours a day.

Hope this helped to save your lives. Thanks for choosing FixYa.

There is NO WAY, that you can reduce the size of the heater in any way, that would not make it unsafe to use. Any modification to the unit is not approved. Would void the warranty and make you liable for any damage, injuries or death caused by that modification. All of these heaters are tested and approved to be used only, as they were manufactured.

I have an old travel trailer. I am installing a new (used) heater with no manual. How far should the heater be from the wall?

There should be clearance markings on the heater. If it is a travel trailer approved appliance it will be zero clearance from factory insert box.

typical is 6-12 inches from where the burner is. the safest thing to do is search the manufacturer and get an installation manual and approved applications guide.

most likely not. it would have to be u. l. approved for natural gas before the manufacturer would be released from liablity issues.

About 4 years ago I had a LAARS MAX boiler installed with a Beckett burner and a Superstor water heater. All works well - except minor problem with burner needing to be reset occasionally. BUT when I...

First off they are not suppose to be installing a boiler that is not CSA approved. Your best bet is to contact Laars find out the real truth. I do know Laars was bought out by another company a few years ago, but the Installation company needs to stand by their product and be held accountable.

If unit is not request a new boiler or threaten talking to better business bureau Customers have rights. It also can be a liability to them.

Good luck let me know how it turns out
