When the electric was turned back on all appliance came back on except the dishwasher. The dishwasher has a front panel touch pad and three of the panel lights are flashing. I know there has to be a sequence to reset the machine. I also need the peace and quiet in the house since I am the husband and am suppose to know it all. The model number is MDB7160AWQ. Front panel dishwasher. The power went out for just a moment and came right back on the NORMAL light was flashing when I pushed the CANCEL button it also stayed flashing. I turned the breaker off over night and tried again the next day the NORMAL light is still flashing and when I press the CANCEL button it flashes also. I tried with the door open and closed? Any help will be appreciated.

Resetting consists of unplugging unit for a minute. I think you may have lost a board when power came back on, such as by a surge.

THIS DISHWASHER WAS RECALLED BY MAYTAG.. You might want to call them to see if it is still covered.
If already repaired you might try:
Normal - heated dry - normal - heated dry. then try to use the machine.

Hi, my dishwasher keeps shorting out all the power in my house. We have tried to run a power cord elsewhere in the house and it does the same thing? Is this an appliance or electricity problem?? not sure...

If it is a US dishwasher for the home, it should be a 120vac unit.

Check the power cord for shorts.

If the unit is worth the repair cost, have a appliance repair check the unit.

Alkso, you can not use a extension cord of any length to run trhe unit.

Resetting the board in dishwasher

If there is a procedure to reset your board it would be to remove power, then restore power to the dishwasher and press certain combination of buttons within certain number of seconds. As far as I remember that procedure was available and was described in tech documentation for Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid and Kenmore dishwashers. I don't recall such procedure for Maytags.
The tech documents are usually under the kick panel, which is under the dishwasher door.
The "hard" reset procedure for any control board would be the following sequence (standard electrical safety and common sense rules apply):
  • remove power (unplug, turn off circuit breaker, etc.)
  • access the control board; with Maytag dishwashers it would be inside the door
  • make a picture or descriptive list of all plugs and wires connected to the board so you could reconnect those later
  • make sure you don't have an electrical charge on yourself - touch the grounded part of the dishwasher, usually the frame
  • CAREFULLY (you can damage your board) disconnect all plugs and wires from the board
  • with a large flat blade screwdriver or any other metal tool insulated from your hand, briefly short the connectors on the board. If you can identify where the power wires connect to the board - short those between each other first.
  • put all plugs back using the picture or the description you've made before disconnecting; put the appliance back together. turn on the power.

Good luck,

Maytag dishwasher MDB6160AWB "Clean" indicator

Hi

It may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Is there a reset button on a maytag quiet series 200 dishwasher?

Go to the electrical panel of the house or apartment and turn off the power to the dishwasher for two full minutes, then turn the power back on. This will reset it. J.

Bosch Dishwasher will not power on

I saw my repair man do the following, which you might try...
Open the door and simultaneously press & hold down the power button with the 2 buttons used on your model to "Cancel & Drain." If the unit comes on it now is in self-diagnosis mode. Release the buttons and close the door. The unit should start to fill with water. Press the power button to exit the mode.

Clean Light Flashes

I found this post elsewhere. It seems to have worked for me: Our KitchenAid KUDP series dishwasher went into a mode where it would not start and would only respond to the cancel/drain button. The clean light would flash 7 times in a row, stop, and then repeat. I read that the 7 flashes indicates an error code and that the dishwasher has detected a problem in the heater element circuit. I tried to reset the error mode by turning off power for 15 minutes, however, that did not work.
We called for a repair. The service person found that the dishwasher was completely fine except that it had gone into an error mode. The technician reset the error mode and charge us $115.00.

The reset sequence used was reported to be the following:
1) Crack the door open.
2) Within 3 seconds press the following sequence - Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry
3) Close and latch the door
4) Press the cancel button (the circle with the triangle in it)

We were told the dishwasher expects to see the dish water temperature rise in a certain way. If the water does not heat in this way, the dishwasher becomes confused and thinks the heater element has failed. In deed, this happened just following and extended power failure and our hot water tank was cool. I am curious if this code will work for anybody else with the same problem and save a service call and 115 bucks. Overall, this seems to be a serious logic flaw in the design.
