Hotpoint WD420 - Stuck in wash cycle

Hi All, Need your advice....Suddenly our machine has started to get stuck in wash cycle for 2-3 hours, then we have to swith it manually to rinse&spin. This only happens every 2 or 3 washes...so very frustrating. Also some cycles do not start at all (lights just flash) Thanks in advance for your advice Cheers Steve

Hotpoint WD420 Washer / Dryer - My machine gets stuck during the rinse and spin on a normal cycle. It'll just stop doing anything and they'll still be aload of water inside the washer. I can switch it over to the drain setting and it'll drain out all the water but when I put it on to final spin it'll just keep going all night but without ever getting upto speed.

    HI

My washing machine is just over a year old and it has started to get stuck on the rinse and spin cycle, sometimes the water staying and others the water drains. In either case the washing machine eventually starts flashing the 2nd and 4th light along with the on/off light. I'm slowly taking it apart but can't find any blockage!

WD420 WASHER DRYER STUCK IN WASH MODE AND NOT DRYING

I had both these probs but luckly enough it was covered with my garrantee so engineer came out popped of the top and hooked his laptop up to it and told me the program had something missing, and there and then flashed the programmer for me.

Also he said it is not cold supplie only as on a lot of these models so on went the hot and cold supplie and it now runs like a dream.

I have noticed with this machine that the clothes are very hot like a damp feel when you open the door after drying i find a quick airing solves it ie just wave them about before you fold them they just need to cool down thats all.

Suggestion: Plug off the wall first. Possible your outlet filter is blocked. This requires cleaning depending on your usage. Clean this out and refit. Check out user's manual. Good luck. Also check if your inlet into the machine is not clogged.

Press "end of cycle" button for over 5 seconds. Flashing may stop. Then try to start from beginning according to your normal wash. If this does not work, plug off the wall, open up behind the machine, check to see if all connections are tightly secured. Possible connections come loose due to vibrations in the machine over time. Specially the connectors from the control board to the motor.

When the machine stays on 'wash', leaving water inside - with mine it was the connection to the heater (Spade connector behind the plastic panel at lower rear. Squeezed slightly with pliers, Bingo!

There are several possible reasons for this, but essentially the water is not pumping out of the machiene. this can be from blocked pumps with hair to a blocked outlet pipe or even the drain you have the pipe plugged into. I do not tend to find that its an expensive pc board or even need to replace the pump but just clean the pipes from the pump to the outside drain, all of them.

If you have cleaned out the pump but still the water drains as if by gravity and not by fource then you can change the motor brushes by hand.

Throw in skip / inherent Design fault with washer dryer circuit board dies when condensate drips onto it from a cover that Hotpoint didn't seal properly. It will reset if left switched off for a long period but problem won't go away unless the service engineer reseals the offending part and shields circuit boards from condensate

When turned on won't fill just starts agitating

I would say u need to check both the water pressure swith which is what signals machine to go into agitation. and the water level inlet valve which may be defective in the coils? Is the timer stuck on wash? can u manually change the cycle? water is turned on?

Kenmore Dishwasher 587.15163401 knob stuck mid-cycle

See if it is stuck on a water heat cycle. if the heater circuit or the thermostat is not working properly it will continue to run looking for a rise in temperature. If these are in working order the timer it self could be sticking and not advancing.

My washer is stuck on the wool cycle and won't wash, change cycles

I had the exact problem. I am not sure if this is the fix, but I unplugged the machine over a few hours, then plugged it back in. It stayed off for 20 seconds and then went back to the wool cycle. In frustration, I opened the lid while running my fingers over the cycle select buttons quickly back and forth two times, as I closed the lid, the display cleared and the machine returned to normal, so far anyway. It seemed as if some moisture had gotten in the controls somehow. It was a very humid day and I think that was the problem, after all. My machine is over ten years old, and the only other problem was a clogged drain pump. I used advice from this website to fix that, and saved 300 on repairs at least
