Question about RCA P61927 61" Rear Projection Television
I've had this tv for about 8 years. About 4 years in we had an issue where the TV would have difficulty turning on. We would have to hold down the power button on the remote or front panel for like 10 secs and then it would turn on or off. This progressively gets worse and worse and got to the point where we couldn't turn it on at all. I called a service guy who came over. Went in the back and in 5 minutes had the TV working. I asked himw hat it was and he wouldn't tell me. Fast forward to a couple months ago and the problem started happening again. It's gotten progressively worse and is now at the point that we can't turn it on anymore. Obviously I can call a service tech and he'd fix it quick. But base don my last experience and the speed of the fix I'm curious if there is something I can check myself.
Got home today and decided to take the cover off and have a look around to see if I could see anything. It was really dirty so cleaned up a lot of the dust and everything all over the various components and mae sure that all fuses were ok ad all wire connectors were seated firmly. Plugged it in and voila it starts working like a charm again. Don't know what I did. On a side note my lenses were insanely dirty with a thick layer of dust. Cleaned the 3 lenses with some canned air and a microfibre cloth and what a remarkable differenc ein picture quality compared to before.
