I've had this tv for about 8 years. About 4 years in we had an issue where the TV would have difficulty turning on. We would have to hold down the power button on the remote or front panel for like 10 secs and then it would turn on or off. This progressively gets worse and worse and got to the point where we couldn't turn it on at all.
I called a service guy who came over. Went in the back and in 5 minutes had the TV working. I asked himw hat it was and he wouldn't tell me.
Fast forward to a couple months ago and the problem started happening again. It's gotten progressively worse and is now at the point that we can't turn it on anymore.
Obviously I can call a service tech and he'd fix it quick. But base don my last experience and the speed of the fix I'm curious if there is something I can check myself.
Got home today and decided to take the cover off and have a look around to see if I could see anything. It was really dirty so cleaned up a lot of the dust and everything all over the various components and mae sure that all fuses were ok ad all wire connectors were seated firmly.
Plugged it in and voila it starts working like a charm again. Don't know what I did.
On a side note my lenses were insanely dirty with a thick layer of dust. Cleaned the 3 lenses with some canned air and a microfibre cloth and what a remarkable differenc ein picture quality compared to before.

Samsung LCD TV Repair - TV Won't Turn On - How to Replace ... or if you have standby and the TV will ...
There are a lot of different possible issues that may cause this most likely the TV is on the wrong station. Try tuning it to 60 or 73 if this doesn't resolve the issue just reply!
This is a really difficult problem to answer correctly on the first try but here we go. Some tvs will not recognize the introduction of a new component without unplugging the tv for about 30 seconds with the component connected and powering the tv back on. The issue I believe Dish was trying to convey was to make sure the port you plug the receiver into is turned on in the tv menu. Since the dvd works in any of them this seems to be the case. I f you have further difficulties you should contact the tv manufacturer for assistance as they are more familiar with teaching the tv to communicate with the receiver than Dish personell will be in most cases.
I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.
