Re: Kingston 8GB Pen drive

Write delay failed...

That is a sign of corrupted memory. Try to run a scan disk on it.

Assumed: Drive letter for the pen drive is G: (If it is not f then replace G with the correct drive letter)

Start > Run > CMD (Click ok, if done proper you will get a black box)
in the black box type in:
 chkdsk f: /f /r /x
It will really look something like this
C:\Documents and settings\Administrator\chkdsk G: /f /r /x

Re: Kingston 8GB Pen drive

Mostly the FAKEs / imitation of original products have these types of errors where the actual memory capacity of the memory IC is not (less than) what has been shown on the casing. The microcontroller IC for the memory chip is FLASHED with a Patch so that it fools your OS to report a fake larger capacity than it actually is.

e.g. your 8GB pendrive may actually have a 256MB memory if u try to store beyond 256MB, your files are corrupted.

Re: Kingston 8GB Pen drive

After typing f:/f//r/x the message displays the type of the file is RAW.
CHKDSK is not avalilabe for RAW Devices

I have photos files etc in my pen drive of Kingston DT 101 G2, what do i have to do to run ur Drive to see my files and photos ? can some one help me? thanks, Janaka

Insert the pen drive into USB port, then open My Computer. You will see some drives. Hard disk drives, CD Room drives, and removable media drives. Example: Your hard disk (drive C, D, E), CD Room (drive F), Removable media (drive G). So, each time you insert a tool such as pen drives, memory cards, etc, you can see it on drive G.

To view the data pen drive, double click My Computer, click the drive G. If you want to move files from pen drive to your hard disk, open the drive G, block all files, copy and paste to drive C / D / E.

hopefully help

Just bought a sandisk 8gb microsd hc, but pc cannot detect

pen drives are very fragile HWs and bound to behave funny sometimes...if u have critical data in them u may be lost for ever sometimes.....
only a low level format or a windows simple format can revive it back....even i as an expert have faced issues with my 8 GB kingston pen drive many i have moved to using 4.7GB DVD RW disk media (DVD RW disk costs just a few $)....and they r re-usable/erasable/re-writable....and most of the PCs have a DVD drive now a days.....also resistance to any virus being writen on them from another infected system....but a pen drive can get infected with a virus, by just connecting it to the USB port....

I have a 4 GB kingston USD pen drive when I try to save data It says no space

Good Day!

See first the free space of your Pen Drive, to do this, go to MY COMPUTER then right click your PEN DRIVE and click properties, you will see how much is the available space. And also try to see the file size that you are copying and compare it to the free space of your Pen Drive. You can't copy file more than the capacity or the free space of your Pen Drive, that is why you come up with that error message.

Hope I was able to help.

I'm a tech IDIOT - I bought an 8GB flash drive to back up ''my documents'', but don't know how to DO it. I've put the flash drive into an available USB port...

Please follow the simple steps to copy the data from your computer.

1. Plug in the flash drive to the USB port available.
2. Wait for a while til the system detects the drive and it will show the detection details on the extreme right side of the task bar.
3. Once the computer has detected the USB/Flash drive you can do a double click on the MY COMPUTER icon on the desktop where it will show you th external drive as a Removable drive. Once confirmed you can close the page.
4. Then you need to go inside My documents by doing a double click on it.
5. Select all the documents by either doing a CTRL+ A or you can select the documents one by one by pressing CTRL and with the mouse just single click on a document.
6. Then after you have higlighted the articles to be moved please do a right click with the help of mouse cursor, where it will give you a option SEND TO and then you will have the option of Removable drive over there.
7. Just select the removable drive and all the data will be copied with in the next few mins.

Your system will tell you the time it wil take in order to send the complete data.

Kingston 4gb not detected

I dont think this problem is due to the pen drive. It may be more due to the system. Check the driver of the system. This may even happen if the system is affected by virus. So try if your pen drive is getting detected in other computers. If yes, then there may be virus infectiond in your pen drive. So run a virus scan and it may help.
