Re: blue lamp

Good Day, josey;

Hope you fixed TV by now but if not, try this; order KIT 10 from B&D ENTERPRISES, 1-800-458-6053.
Your problem is in the TV's convergence circuit. The KIT will tell what to do.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Top, middle of screen there is a constant flicker. The flicker starts at the top, middle and goes about half way down the screen.

I have a blue line about 3/4 inch wide from the top right to the middle bottom. ( not a straight line ) I replced thr projection lamp with no fix to the problem. I added an additipnal fan and cleared up the problem. On furthe investigation I replaced the air filter and kept only the original fan and the problem was solved. Can you explain this.

I have a blue ring or halo around center of screen

55VS69 is a LCD rear projection set---if you have blue or some other color discoloration in some part of the picture most likely you have a damaged optical light engine.

This model used two different ones--It is an expensive part as one wholesales for about 550 and the other about 600 not counting major labor to replace.

If you have an extended warranty--get it in and fixed.

The reason this happens in some sets is the Lamp used for the light source creates a lot of heat and can damage the lens/baffles inside the sealed light engine.

Blue is the most common as that part of the engine is usually closest to the lamp.

The set shines the light from the lamp into the engine and signal etc is injected and at the top of the engine is a 3 inch lens that projects the picture into a mirror which puts it on the screen.

Some of Hitachi's earlier sets are now involved in class action lawsuits as they had a red oval in the middle of the screen--red was first in those models--some Sony and other sets have had the same problems.

Let me know if you have questions as I am here to help. I know I am not giving you good news but based on your description I think it is your problem.

3LCD Projection TV 2.5 years old displaying blue hue/blobs

I would first try a new lamp. If the reflector portion of the lamp has any defects, it could show up this way as the light would not be uniform. The next possibility is a defective light engine. The engine portion if not field repairable and would need to be replaced. Try the lamp first and let us know what happens.

Red lamp light stays light

I doubt that it is the optical assy. it sounds more like a chassis problem either on the DM or the FMT board.

check out
if it is a chassis problem it will cost about $250.00 plus shipping one way to fix the chassis

KP-51HW40 Sony 51" Fades to blue screen

The service manual on page 8 shows how to adjust the Red/Blue/Green screen voltages. To get to the adjustment board, take the front speaker grill off (two screws at the bottom left and right) and set it aside. No need to disconnect any wires. Then remove the plywood board with 4 screws that exposes the screen/focus adjustments. The top 3 adjustments are for focus, and you need not mess with these. The bottom 3 adjustments are for Red/Blue/Green screen voltage rough adjustments. My screen showed red lines, so I had to turn the bottom right adjustment with a philips head screwdriver just slightly until the red gun retrace lines where no longer visible.
