Hi, I tried to switch on the player and received the following message: "hold locked" and player will shut down in two sec. It is fully charged and not locked. Please advise what could be the issue.Thanks.

I had the exact same problem it was after I ran a new firmware update, it flashed on and then turned off and would not turn on or recognize the computer. Solution: Since i didn't have a mini screwdriver to take the battery out, I held down the menu and power button for 15 seconds let go and it powered right up and works great.

Does it indicate that it is fully charged? If it does, I would return it or have it replaced. You have a 1 year warranty from SanDisk. SanDisk Technical Support 1-866-726-3475 If not, try using a different USB port on the computer, preferably one in the back. Best of Luck.

I have the same problem and since mine was out of warranty, I decided to try and fix it. I ordered a new ipod nano wheel from ebay for roughly 15 dollars. Search youtube for how to open your nano, which is pretty straightforward. Not as difficult as I thought actually. You can then remove the wheel circuit pad and replace it. It peels right off of the plastic part of the wheel and the metal back part also peels off. They used some sort of sticky back tape, which sounds bad when you try to take it off, but reallty not all that bad. Mine is Gen1, so yours maybe different, just be sure to search fro the right model.

Try charging it up on a different computer. It says in the instructions that they cannot guarantee the charging of the battery on personally assembled or modified computers. I had the same problem with mine on our independent computer shop bought PC, but it is charging up fine now that I've plugged it into my hubby's laptop which was bought in a PC supermarket. I hope this helps.
