All three were working but 2 of them quit suddenly and say "Check Tel Line". The one that still works is plugged directly into modem. The 2 that say check tel line will work if i plug them into modem just as the 1 plugged to the moden wont work on the other 2 jacks. My modem is plugged into a jack that works, so why did the other jacks in the house stop working suddenly?

This phone system should only have one physical phone jack connection as all the handsets are wireless. It sounds like you may be getting your phone service via your Internet Service Provider. It would help to know how you are connecting your home telephone wiring to your equipment.

All phones are plugged in and operating but i get a busy signal on all in talk mode

I assumed when you say all phones are operating means there's power and are charging.
1. There could be some phones that are loading the Tel line. Disconnect all phones and plug it one by one while checking the dial tone. If all phones gives busy tone, there coulb be a problem in the Trunk line or the Tel Company line.
2. There could be a short or resistance in the line. Check the connection in junction box between your house and the Tel Company cable.
3. If you have an analog Tel set, you can check the dial tone directly from Tel Company cable that comes in to your house.

I hope this helps.
Best Regards.

Would like to connect a fax but only port 1 or (tel 1) port 2 does not work, should i send back to comcast or reset modem

There is nothing wrong with your modem. Comcast charges extra for a second line. Depending on your model of fax machine, there should be both an input ond an output on the back of the fax machine. Plug the fax machine into line 1 on the modem. Then, plug your phone into the input on the back of the fax machine. If you fax does not have both in and out, then you can purchase a "Y" phone line adapter from your local electronics store.

ps. VoIP is a digital line... Facsimiles are analog signals... Sending analog signals over digital lines is not recomended. If you are wondering "why?" (and understand tech jargon) VoIP is sent via UDP, which is a connectionless protocol (does not retransmit dropped packets) Fax machines use TCP, which does resend dropped packets. This variance in Qualiy of Service sometimes cases strange activity such as both lines (sending and receiving) dropping connections, faxes taking a long time to transmit (due to constant resending loops), etc. It does work... kind of. I would just not assume that faxes made it to their destination until it gets confirmed.

The tel 1 and 2 buttons are flashing green along with stand by. The phone line has no dial tone and its busy when we call the line..

When the tel light blinks this indicates that the line is in use. To trouble shoot this issue you will need to connect a phone directly to the tel 1 port of your modem. If you have dial tone when directly connect that means that there is an issue with the internal wiring of the home. If you still do not have any dial tone with the phone directly connect than there is an issue with the modem and it needs to be replaced.

I hope that information above has helped is some way.
If possible please rate this solution.

My router just stopped working. The internet

There can be several causes for this:

1. Check for power to the router which can be lost because of a loose DC plug or bad power brick.

2. Check the DSL or cable modem if it is working properly and can get you on line if directly plugged into your PC.

3. If any of the above are ok, then your router has just died. Routers have a high rate of failure so I won't be surprised if this was the case with yours.

Can't get the fax to work. It WAS working before.....

follow this simple steps:

1 .Connect the phone cable that came with the printer to the back of your modem to the port that says tele 1.
2 . connect the other end of the phone cable to the port on the printer that says "1-line"
3. connect the phone cable or cord that came with your telephone line to the back of the printer port that says "2-EXT" and the other end to the back of your telephone ..

This should solve the problem..best of luck

Not sending fax

Plug a phone into that line and see what happens. Let me know what happens. Plug the phone into the line that goes into the fax machine. Make sure it works and is clear. No static or noise.

2701HG-B

Hi. I will not repeat the check the phone line and resetting comments as it's now redundant.

I always have a spare modem as a line tester.

I've seen several 2700HG-B 2wire modem/routers burn out and every single time it's the DSL signal or modem portion that is burnt out. Even if you have two or three phone line surge protectors these 2700s are prone to shorting out unless you have a direct signal splitter DSL setup.

Here are a few things you can try to confirm if the 2700 is no longer functional on the DSL signal light problem.

#1: Turn on (plug in) your 2700 without the phone line plugged in and wait. If the DSL starts flashing red then there is a hardware problem in the modem/router.

#2: Plug the phone line into the 2700 while the dsl light is flashing red. It might take about 3 seconds however it should start to flash green and let it flash for about (usually) three minutes. If it turns red then the 2700 is indeed damaged.

#3: If you can enter into your modem using the http://2wire... and check the connection status. The first two status lines should read attempting to connect and no connection.
