Go to a salvage yard and unbolt the whole hinge assembly.

Just did this on my 2500HD, so I assume its similar. I had to remove the door first. Remove the inside left kick panel and unplug any wiring harnesses coming from the door to the inside of the truck. Pop the rubber flexible boot coming from the door through the access hole behind the kick panel using a screwdriver. Remove the bolts on the hinges and the bolt from the stay arm. The door can now be lifted off. The existing hinge pins have to be ground off on the underside of the pins before they can be punched out from underneath. Putting an oversized socket over the top pin and then havilng a helper hold a sledgehammer on the socket helped when trying to drive the pins up. Once removed, replace the bushings and install the new pins. Using new pins that are threaded and use a locknut will greatly simplify installation. Do NOT use pins that use a clip to hold them in.

How do you replace the door hinge pins?

get a floor jack and a pieces of wood lay the wood on the jack and jack up till it meets the bottom of the door. this will support the door when you pull the pins. using a pry bar pop the little spring inside the door out. its on the top hinge.if the pins have a retainer on the end of them remove this clip the new ones came with this. using a hammer and long punch drive out the pins and pull the door. if it has electric windows just pull it away enough to access the holes for the pins. using the hammer and punch drive out the bushings and install the new bushings.slide the door to the holes and install the new pins make note of the direction of the old pins and install the same way. install the clips on the ends of the pins and reinstall the spring. i do so many i made a tool for reinstalling the spring its a little tricky to get in with your pry bar but not installing the pin will cause the door to swing without restraint. heres a break down picture to help guide you. hope this helpsonetufshoppe_67.gif

How do you replace door hinge pins on a 1999 chevy silverardo

The pins are driven out since they are driven is. Have the door supported on some sort of lifting device securely since it will become wobbly upon removal. Do one hinge at a time. The upper one gets the most wear

How hard is it to replace the door hinges on a Chevy S10 P/U? Hinge pin kits WON'T HELP. The hinges are WORN OUT. I am an advanced DIYer. Can I do it myself, or must I take it to a shop? Any help will be...

its not bad to do it yourself. but it will take 2 people to do it. have your helper open the door and lightly lift it up so the pin is free then slide the pin up and out and then the door can move off the hinge so you can get the old brass sleeve out and replace it with the new one and slide the door back on and replace the pin. i would only do one hinge at a time and do the bottom one first.

I've got a 2002 S-10 4x4, crew cab. The driver side door is ''dragging'' How do I adjust the door? I see no visible adjustments

There are not adjustments. You have to replace the hinge pins on the hinges. You can get a kit of replacement pins and sleeves from the part stores. You will need a special tool to press the spring on the hinge. This is a known problem with the s10s and t10s.Hope this helps.Good luck.

How do you change hinge pins in drivers door

The repair kit that you purchase should have recommended steps for replacement. With the kit that I purchased, I had to grind the bottom of the upper & lower pins off. Since this was a quick fix, my brother assisted by holding the door steady on the blocks that we set the door on. I removed the old pins. The new pins were threaded and were pulled into place as the retaining nuts were tightened. We set the door back in place and were done. I purchased the pin kits from my buddy at a local body shop.

2002 chevy silverado 1500 door hinge pins

You will have to remove the old ones (a round punch of about 1/4" works well, then remove and replace parts (two punch up, two punch down). BE SURE you have the door supported with a block of wood under the door while doing this. It would help for two people to do it also, but not 100% necessary. Good Luck ALSO REMOVE THE LATCH THAT KEEPS THE DOOR FROM SWINGING ALL THE WAY OPEN, THAT WILL GIVE YOU BETTER ACCESS.
