Hello Moneymakey, have you sorted out your machine's problem?

I had the same problem on my HP machine but with different symptom.

It first appeared one year ago when my daughter switched off the machine (everything was fine up to this point) at night. The next day, the machine could not be started but she noticed the machine's power supply light was flashing. It was in this state for a few hours as she does not know what to do. Then suddenly the flashing stopped and machine can be started and everything returned to normal.

Then about half a year ago, I turned off the machine to add some memory (from 512mb to 1.5gb) and could not start the machine while the power supply light was flashing. My daughter told me the trick but it did not work after a few hours. So I left the machine connected to power over night. Next morning, the flashing was gone and everything returned to normal.

But later on, the machine occasionally ran into a freezing state, not responding to any input.  So a few days ago, I turned off the machine, and did some connection checking on the motherboard. But this time, the flashing never stops flashing, even after I have unplugged almost everything.

The flashing stops only after I unplug the power to the motherboard. By manipulating this power cable to the motherboard, I can manage to turn the flashing to the constant flashing, but the machine still can’t be turned on.

I was just wondering this event sequence would inspire any useful trouble shooting thoughts

Hp media center will not turn on

It could mean some internal component is damaged, and your desktop is simply unable to be powered on. However, make sure to check your power cable is plugged in, and power is actually switched on (check the back of your machine).

This seems like a hardware problem and since the laptop is just one day old you are entitled to get a complete exchange for the laptop. You need to carry the laptop to nearest HP service center who will certify that the system was dead On Arrival (DOA) and once it is been certified from the hp service center as DOA you can take the system to the store from where you purchased this laptop and get it exchanged.

Open your computer casing where the motherboard lies in and then remove the memory card, your new video card and then reset the BIOS, refer to the motherboard manual on how to do it. Hp media center power

hi friends, unpluug the power chord from the wall jack after that press and hold the power button in the front for about 15 seconds, connect the chord back in and try it. if it does the same then look at the rear side of the cpu box (where the power chord goes in and look for a small fan inside the power supply box, it has to be spinning). if not then the power supply (smps) has goen bad. now if the fan is sipnning try disconnecting all the extra periferals eg printer and stuff, still nogo then try opening the cpu box (reffer owners manual). take the RAM out and try to power up the system, if it starts beeping like beep ...beep... peeeep... then turn it off put the ram sticks back in and it should work fine...
NB:-for the owners manual check this out:
