I need to know how to program the numbers into the speed dial option. My mother's phone is a table set with large numbers #29267A ... close enough?

Before you store a telephone number in memory, make sure the dialing mode is
correctly set for the type of service you have. The default dialing mode is tone
(touch-tone), so if you have pulse (rotary) service, you must first change the dialing
mode. See “To Set the Dial Mode.” The following buttons can be stored into any
memory location: 0-9.
STORING FREQUENTLY CALLED NUMBERS
1. Pick up the handset.
2.Press the store button.
3. Push the desired memory location button.
4. Press the store button.
5.Use the handset number keys to enter the telephone number (up to 16-digits)
and press the store button.
6.Hang up the handset.
NOTE: If you make a mistake, use the delete button to delete wrong digits.
CHANGING A STORED NUMBER
Repeat the storage sequence above. The new number replaces the old number at
the memory location.
ERASING A STORED NUMBER
1. Pick up the handset.
2.Press the store button.
3.Press the memory location (0-9) to be erased.
4.Press delete for three seconds until the number in the display is erased.
5.Hang up the handset.
DIALING FREQUENTLY CALLED NUMBERS
1. Pick up the handset and press the mem button.
2. Press 0-9 for the memory location. The number dials automatically.
OR
1. Pick up the handset and press the dial button.
2. Press the review button for the desired memory location.
3. Press the dial button to dial the number.
OR
1. Press dial button while the handset is still in the cradle.
2. Press the review button for the desired memory location, lift the handset and the
number dials automatically.

How can i download users' manual. I need to get the automatic "9" out of the outgoing fax number.

Hello,

Inserting a dial prefix A dial prefix is a number or group of numbers that are automatically added to the beginning of every fax number you enter at the control panel or from the software. The maximum number of characters for a dial prefix is 50.
The default setting is Off . You might want to turn this setting on and enter a prefix if, for example, you have to dial a number such as 9 to get a telephone line outside of your company telephone system. While this setting is activated, you can dial a fax number without the dial prefix by using manual dial. For instructions, see Using manual dial .
To set the dial prefix
  1. On the all-in-one control panel, press Menu .
  2. Use the < or the > button to select Fax setup , and then press c00597634.gif .
  3. Press the > button once to select Fax Send setup , and then press c00597634.gif .
  4. Use the < or the > button to select Dial Prefix , and then press c00597634.gif .
  5. Use the < or the > button to select On or Off , and then press c00597634.gif .
  6. If you selected On , use the alphanumeric buttons to enter the prefix, and then press c00597634.gif . You can use numbers, pauses, and dialing symbols.

Need manual

Given that consumer telephones are inexpensive, the cost of repairing the speaker phone on the 960 (assuming you still have it) is probably not worth it.

Going off of my memory....to program a speed dial you would first press "Program", enter the telephone number you want stored and then press the one of the memory buttons to save the number to. If the number is to be saved on a lower memory position press "Lower" before you press the memory button.

AT&T's telephone product website has a section where user manuals for many AT&T and Lucent branded telephones.

http://telephones.att.com/telephones_ui/support/dsp_manuals_list.cfm

The 960 is no longer listed, but the many of the basic functions are similar to the 922.
