Re: my computer does not recognize camera software

I had the same problem. I am not in any way a computer guy. The problem was, I had been downloading the pictures from my Canon digital Camera onto a Dell desktop with windows XP through the front USB port for years, no problems. One day, it just stopped working, and I would get a "unknown device" message when I went into the device manager. If I tried to open up the software that came with the camera and clicked "start image transfer" , I would get "camera not found" Anyway, I googled it, and found on one forum somewhere someone suggested the culprit could be a newly downloaded or upgraded version of realplayer. So I went into realplayer tools, preferences. I turned off the automatic updates and message center and re-booted as instructed. I plugged in the camera, and it worked. If the person who posted that information is reading this, I thank you. I would have NEVER figured that out, and would likely be buying a new camera for no reason.

Re: my computer does not recognize camera software

I got a usb card reader and download the pictures that way. I tried reinstalling the drivers and used a different cable, but it still did not work. I think something happened to the usb port on the camera itself.

Re: my computer does not recognize camera software

Reinstall the drivers, must unistall them first and get the updated ones. if this does not work, try to use a different usb port on your computer.

I plug in my GEx5 to my computer but my computer doesn't recognize the camera

some cameras need to have the software installed on the computer, did you install the software? depending on the age of the computer some devics can be power hungry on usb ports and so will come up as unrecognised devices, ive expirienced this myself. or last but not least the camera has a faulty usb controller inside, there are a few reasons but the worst one is when its the computer is an old one and the usb ports just dont have enough power to run the camera.

Unable to download pictures

I do know that sometimes a usb port will fail, for whatever reason, to recognize a device. It's happened to me before, and you can try a couple things. First, unplug and plug the usb port back in while it's connected to the camera. If the computer fails to recognize it, try you different usb ports, and the computer may respond. Aside from that, if you're running the XP or later versions of windows, you might try restoring your computer to a time before this problem occurred. Also, an update to Windows could have adversely caused this to happen, and restoring to an earlier date would hopefully reset the usb software's ability to recognize the port. Perhaps someone else will have suggestions if none of these things work, but that's the limit of my dealings with this problem. There's always the possibility that a hardware issue is at work here, but I hope not. If you do discover the port is bad, you can always get a hub and deal with it that way, leaving it connected to a known, good usb port. Just make sure you get a hub that is aided by a power source to relieve the computer from the burdon of powering up the hub. Good luck.

Wont recognize camera says it s an apple

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

We have a Olympus fe-340 and all of a sudden when we plug it in to the computer it doesn't connect to download pictures. I usually turns on as soon as you plug it in and prompts you to up load. What can...

Sounds like your software no longer recognizes the device is plugged in. I would open the software program that you are using with the camera plugged in and try to find the upload/connect to camera command. You should be able to start the download from there. Hope this helps!

My nikon camera

If the software is loaded in the computer - take it out. Make sure you have the camers set to upload. Card is in Battery in good contition. Plug camera in computer, Reboot the computer. Camera/Scanner Wizard should come up[on XP or 2000/Me only ] if you have 98 or Vista then there is a USB driver potential problem.
