Question about Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX Personal Web Camera

2 Answers

Slow Motion I just recently bought a logitech quickcam, however, it seems to move really slowly. When I try to record a simple video, it makes me look like I'm moving in really slow motion. It looks really badly, for the sound and the picture doesn't match up. It's about 3 seconds off. Is there any way that I can fix it? I'm pretty sure it's not the internet, for my college's internet is pretty fast. Thanks!

Re: Slow Motion

Just clear some memory on your computer and it will help your webcam perform better, just like it did for me.

Re: Slow Motion

Normal 0 How much memory is installed in your computer? The camera uses quite a bit of your memory to operate properly and would cause the poor video. Could be other
Issues, but worth checking.
Hope this helps. Bud

Logitech quickcam gi ves me fuzzy picture when i

A bit of fuzziness is expected especially when you move. How fuzzy depends on speed of your computer and the capture ability of the camera. I have quickcam that is 1.3 megapixel. Stationary objects are pretty clear, but all motion is fuzzy and distorted. Move slowly to help minimize the distortion. When using instant messaging or Skype, set camera to a smaller image size for faster compression and transfer.

I bought and installed a quickcam IM plus. Videos choppy.

Sounds like your CPU may be overloaded. A simple way to check is to do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and look at the performance. See if any application is hogging your resources and, if so, you can change some of the settings to be more friendly to your system.

I've bought a logitech quickcam communicate STX. When I installed it first it worked fine. Someone unpluged it from the usb port and it wouldn't work. I re-installed the drivers and it was fine again but...

The microphone may not work because of a hardware or configuration problem. To determine if it's a hardware problem, test the microphone in Sound Recorder.

  1. Click "Start," > "Programs" ("All Programs" for Windows XP) > "Accessories" > "Entertainment" > "Sound Recorder."
  2. Click the Record button and speak into the microphone of the camera. You should see the green line move, indicating the application is picking up sound.
  3. Click the Stop button.
  4. Click the Play button. If there is no sound at playback, check to make sure the correct device is selected.
    1. Click "Edit," then "Audio Properties."
    2. Make sure Logitech is listed as the Preferred device for "Sound recording."
The microphone may also be defective. To test this, try the camera on another USB enabled system.
If you can record sound in Sound Recorder, but not in the QuickCam application, try setting the Logitech Microphone as the Preferred device in Audio Properties.
