Canon Powershot A520 Stuck in View Picture Mode

When I power up my camera, it goes into the viewfinder screen for about 2 seconds, then it goes black and jumps to the picture viewer screen. Even if i toggle the switch back in forth,,,nothing. Ive tried replacing the batteries, zooming in and out, power up then down...nothing... Also, my zoom button seems to be sticking a little,,, any ideas?

Re: Canon Powershot A520 Stuck in View Picture Mode

You need to power it with rechargable batteries. with the MAH being no less than 2000. I bought a charger which came with 2batteries for less than a tenner

Screen is black when taking a picture

The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to Canon service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost.

Thank you

Camera turns on, lens goes out, but it is black, see nothing through it or on lcd screen (yes, cover is off). There is no error messages, still takes pictures but just black. Can view previous pictures on...

It coud be a very common IRIS/Shutter stuck problem...this has been reported on lot of S3 IS & S2 IS cameras... just search for this on web and you'll find a temporary solution also (related to taking battery out in the middle of taking picture during a long exposure (15" in Tv mode), but for more permanent fix you need take it back to Canon service center

Try to see if you can connect the cable to a TV and see if it will do the same thing.

Example: camera - cable plug - to Input of TV.

Two different Canon A520 problems.

hey guys. there is no solution that you can do it for yourself. the best solution i can give for you is take it to service centre. here in india we get charged nearly 1800rupees for servicing the lens portions.

Tab on the camera. E18 is a stuck lens. This is common on this camera. I'm not saying this will fix it, but don't break it.
