Hi, Basically, at the rear of your Belkin F5D9230-4, you need to connect the: 1. Blue (Connection to Modem) - goes to the modem provided by you ISP; 2. Gray - Connect the power adapter to an AC outlet and to the power jack of the router; 3. Yellow - connect your PCs to any of he the LAN/Ethernet ports using LAN cables terminated with RJ45 connectors. Alternately but preferably you can use the Easy Install Wizard and follow the on screen instructions. The wizard is available in the installer CD that came with the router and on line at Belkin site. The only requirement is that your PC be directly connected to a DSL/Cable modem with an active & working Internet connection. Hope this be of help/idea. Post back how things turned out or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.

Hello, The wire from your cable modem plugs into the WAN (labelled "connect to modem") port on your wireless router. You then need to install the software on your PC to set up the router.

Make sure the you are wired correctly. 1) The incoming cable/dsl to the modem. 2) The modem to the WAN (Internet) RJ 45 connection on the router. 3) The router wired to the computer during set up. You can not set up the router unless you are hard wired to the router.
Then try connecting using the IP address Belkin sent you. Probably 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. Use Internet Explorer.

WRT160N Wireless Router : i just bought a new laptop and a lynsis wrt160n......

The wired and wireless speed will always be different.
The maximum wired speed will be 100 Mbps. That means the wired connection is working properly.
Wireless connection speed will depend on the router and the wireless adapter on your computer.
If you are using B-Adapter then max speed will be 11 MBPS. IF it is G-Adapter then max speed will be 54 Mbps.
The N-adapter will give you more speed.
Check in the Device manager which adapter you are using on your wireless computer.
One more thing you can try changing the wireless channel on the router.
You will need to access the router settings page.
Update the drivers of your wireless adapter on the computer.
You have WRT160N router.
This router has issues with the Firmware.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the cable.
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router.
Download the firmware of the router from the manufacturer's website.
enter the model number. select proper version number and download the firmware of the router.
Once you download the firmware, you will need to open the router set up and upgrade the firmware of the router.
After upgrading the firmware, it is recommended that you reset and reconfigure the router.

Hi i bought d-link 2640u and i am using as land but i don't know how to use it wireless with my laptop del vostro1510 . if u could help me up i be so thankfull. my e-mail is emily_1399@yahoo.co.uk

You said that your are using it as a wired connection and I believe the wired connection is working properly.
The you will need to open the router set up page and create a new wireless network or check the wireless settings of the router.
Once you get the wireless settings of the router , you will need to connect to the wireless network on the wireless computer. it depends on the operating system on your computer.

Got a linksys wireless-G 2.4 ghz broadband router and all i have is the router and /ac pwer cord..can you tell me what other cables/cords I will need to set up and basic set procedures..Thanks

You will need a Cat 5 or 6 ether net cable to connect yout wireless to the cable modem.

If you want to connect with wire to this rouger from other devices, you will need additional pieces of cat 5 cable of appropariate length.

Be mindful that wire is secure and operates at 100. Wireless operates at 10. Wireless range is about 300 feet radius.

I hope this helps you.

Need ESSID and WEP info for a Toshiba Satellite A205

The users guide for your laptop won't have information about ESSID or WEP for any wireless networks you are trying to connect to. SSID is Site Security Identification. That is the name of the wireless network you are connecting to and WEP is Wired Equivalent Privacy and is a key that is set up on the wireless network that if you don't know that key you can't use that wireless network even if you know the SSID. Each wireless network will have its own ESSID and WEP settings. If you control (I.E. you have the username and password for that router) the wireless router that you are settings up you control what the ESSID and WEP settings are. If you purchased the wireless router that you are trying to connect to, you might need a users guide for that router or if the company you get your Internet from owns your wireless router, you need to contact them concerning the setup of that wireless router.

Hope that helps.
Good Luck

No wireless connection

You need to have an Internet Service Provider. You connect the router to a modem from the cable Service Provider or through the phone line for BT. Then you can connect wired or wirelessly to internet through the router.

If you describe your set up in detail and tell me the Internet Service Provider I may be able to help more....

Wireless router

I have a friend that works at 2 wire. I've bought a couple of their products. And I'm a computer geek. Unless I miss my guess it shouldn't matter what is plugged into it, be it laptop or desktop. It may be locked down to the MAC address on the NIC, but I doubt it. Anyway you'd just browse to it's embedded webpage and change the setting. The IP address is the same as the gateway address on the laptop plugged into it.

I think I bought that model for my dad but I can't remember the exact model number on it. Anyway the one I bought, and set up for my Dad, I had several different computers hooked up to it and never had a problem.

Compatibility between linksys WRT54G Router and Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Driver

from what you say, it sounds as if you have your wired and wireless card connected at the same time. This will confuse the router as it is trying to give two different ip addresses to the one pc, which it cannot do. If you are using the wireless adapter, make sure you dissable the wired adapter as the router will continually look for the wired ip address while allocating your wireless adapter causing instability. Next ensure you have a good clear signal from router to notebook as this can obviously cause problems. Lastly ensure that the wireless cards TCP/IP properties are set to obtain ip address automatically, especially if your router is DHCP enabled to allocate ip addresses automatically.
