Re: Connection problem

Hi, It might not be a problem with your setup but with your provider. Give them a call and relate your concern. If the provider informs you that nothing is wrong then post back and we can go through the checkup process and determine if anything has changed or need modifications to make your connection as fast if not better as before. Good luck and kind regards.

Slow Internet/Keeps Cutting Out

Hi try to test your internet connection by using a a eithernet cable and directly pluging into you router and computer. If your connection works fine with that connection then try to reset your router back to factory settings and use a new password just in case someone has been bumming off your wifi. also contact your service provider to have them ping your system, they can test the connection from their end.

Slow connection

your internet may be slow due to following reasons
- Your ISP (internet service provider) may be having issues with routing signals to you.
- Your browser memory cache is so full, your browser has to slow down to allow for its limited hard drive space.
- You might have spyware/malware infecting your machine, and secretly using your Internet bandwidth.
So You need to optimize browsers and internet connection.
- First of all update the browser
- Disabling The Firewall
- Remove unwanted tool-bars and plug-ins
- clear temp files
- Deactivate background running services
If you are unable to perform above tasks then use a single utility tool like PC Fresher that will not only fix windows errors but will also optimize Internet

My internet connection via the router (d-link DI-524) have slowed down. how do i reset settings or put a password?

Maybe you have an open WiFi (no password wireless) and anyboby near can connect to your router and download files, this can slow down your Internet connection. To put a password to your wireless network, enter setup preferably by a wired connection to router, in your browser type the default IP address of it (, the user is admin and its password must be left blank (default settings), at the Home tab go directly to Wireless option since you'll only change your WiFi from unsecure to secure, there you can choose the security type, WPA is recommended, after select it you can put the new Key (password) of your WiFi, and finally apply to get changes working, just remember that after this procedure, you'll have to enter the password in each new wireless connection to your router.

the problem with wireless routers is that they only will put out little more than 1mbps it may say 54mbps, but it'll usually only download at about 1 mbps, ive found it frustrating myself, but thats all the firmware in those will allow, ive tried to upgrade mine, but still the same, there isnt a fix that i'm aware of, wireless "N" maybe different but i doubt it, sending that much information wirelessly creates alot of heat,

I have internet service through Clear (formerly Clearwire), and am troubleshooting a network problem. I have a problem with my internet connection slowing down to where some sites will not load in, and...

What I would suggest have two browser windows open, 1 is to the regular internet and the 2nd is to which is the clear modem, The username is admin and the password is motorola. Once you are in, make the window the size of the icon in the middle of the screen, this will allow you to watch what the modem is really doing when you are accessing the internet in the other window.. If you see an X over the picture of the world and you still have bars on the right then definately contact them and let them know because it shouldnt do that. I know this as I have the same service here in Philly and I am having issues with it, so I always keep a little window open with that picture so I can watch it.

Slowed internet connection using wireless router...

Wired connections are faster than equivalently wireless connections (from/to the same node) and so your
experienced is quite normal.

Additional nodes divide the original bandwidth and denigrate the performance, which is why one tries to
maximize the original bandwidth (speed in MHz) of the connection to the gateway.

You can maximize your experience by having critical systems wired to the router, and this also provides
greater security than any encryption (which is another brake on your speed) necessary for a wifi

Make sure you have the fastest possible wifi card in your portable devices to maximize your speed.

Bad connection. dropped internet when connected with mac wired or wireless

I'm not sure but it could be that the particular router has some hardware issues. I bought a Belkin wireless N router a few months back and i had the same problem. It only had a short range and kept cutting off in between. I exchanged it with a new router and voila!. it works fine.
And the other thing i've come to notice. At times having the router under the desk or at a corner might not give off enough to provide a connection within the adjacent room so I've had to place the router in a open and unobstructed place. So much for belkins super signalling.
