NEFF S5456 DISHWASHER

Can anyone help, my dishwasher seems to keep running at the end of the cycle and the electronic timer remains on 1. I have checked all pipes and drains. If i turn the machine off and on again it returns to 10 minutes and continues to run.???????

We have an S5443X1GB/29, which appear so never shut off.  The pump keeps on running.  I assume it's an error in the controller, or it thinks it's in flood mode and trying to pump out.  I do not know how to fix this problem.  Thanks,  [email protected]

YOU ARE NOT ALONE! I ALSO HAVE A FOUR YEAR OLD NEFF (NAFF?) S5456 WHICH STICKS WITH THE PUMP RUNNING CONTINUOUSLY WITH 1 MINUTE ON THE TIMER. POWER CYCLING IT CAUSES A DISPLAY OF 22 MINUTES TO APPEAR - ONLY A 3 BUTTON RESET SEEMS TO SORT IT. NEFF WEBSITE DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ANY TECHNICAL SUPPORT OPTIONS. AM INVESTIGATING......

I managed to sort my neff problem where it got stuck on 1 minute. I had to take the side off which revealed the water tank and all the workings. On the lower right hand side there is a bellows looking device. Basically a red float which goes up and down inside a plastic housing. I removed the switch connections, removed the plastic housing, (this involved removing the water connections that feed the tank). I then cleaned the red float. It was covered in white gunge which restricted its up and down movement. I have had no problems since. Good luck.

Have you tried it on a different program? I have nearly always used the AUTO program - however i have used the 50 degree program 3 times now and it completes the (much longer) wash without sticking on one minute. Will try it on auto again to see what happens. I found it useful to turn the end-of-wash buzzer on (to loud) to remind me when (if) it completes the program.

SOLUTION BY 88BONHAM IS 100% RIGHT - WELL DONE SIR (MADAM?) !!

Have just (in desperation) followed your advice and found exactly the same problem. I.e. the red plastic float thingy and the bellows float which drive the 2 microswitches were both completely gunged up. Cleaned out with limescale remover and hot water (several times), re-installed and it's all working!

Would add however that this is a fairly major expedition into the mysteries of the internal organs of a dishwasher and is probably best not attempted by the technologically challenged !!

Once again congratulations to 88BONHAM for a brilliant fix and many thanks.

If the water level sensor is on then the pump will keep running trying to remove the water. Ensure the water clears properly from the pump area beneath the strainer accessible by removing the torx screw and lifting out the pump guard. Clear any debris from the area directly infront of the pump blades.

We eventually, after several days of these problems, called a technician. It took him a couple of days to come round. Then when he did - he switched it on and absolutely no problem. His explanation was that if you interrupt the cycle whilst on a hot cycle, it sometimes thinks it's in flood mode. If you leave it off for a couple of days - it's OK.
Learning
1) Try not to interrupt hot cycle
2) If the pump continues to run - switch it off and wash dishes manually for 2 or 3 days.
Hope this helps others.

The water is not draining out of the dishwasher at end of rinse cycle leaving a pool of water in bottom of dishwasher

Possible that the drain pump /drain valve is not working . it can be struck or it could have failed. Best is to check the voltage during the program . If voltage is present then pump is faulty but if voltage is not present then the controller board is not working ,possible failure in the board.

Pum continue running and never end cycle

Ok,

So you know how to get to the float mechanism. I also noticed that when i lifted the red anti flood pole the pump keeps going & also the float will not move because if you add water to the small chambe it runs away as it should do. The next thing i tried was to unplug the electronic float switch. I use alot of these devices in my line of work & sometimes they stick. By unpluging it & seemed to do the trick once reinserted the pump has stopped. To double check just lift the red pole & the pump will start again as if it has registered a flood alert. Problem solved & £300 better off. Note if it still runs after this, the switch could be at fault they cost pennies to replace. Good luck

Hotpoint sdw dishwasher

It is possible drain pump blocked, you need to empty d/washer manually, check inside drain pump which is at end of drain hose, always isolate d/washer from power before attempting any work on it.

Won't Stop

If your dishwasher's cycle times are too long, check these:

Water pre-heating
Cycle not completing
Water pre-heating
Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is
cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher.
Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature
of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.

Warning! To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than
120 degrees Fahrenheit.
