There is not enough information. I didn’t see any reference to whether it was a wireless, PS 2 or USB mouse? Did it work before? What is it being used in a lap top or desk top? What is the mouse not doing? Does the mouse need cleaning? Are the switches not working or is the pointer not moving? Do you know how to reset your bios to defaults? What sort of changes happened prior to the malfunction? Such as new programs, hardware, power drop or spike? Have you tried to restore the computer back to a date while it was working? Does another mouse work in the same port?
Many things can affect this. Trying a different port is one of the things that may resole the issue, but sometimes the ports themselves may create a problem. try something else in the port and see if the port is working. If the port is not working it may be an internal computer issue involving the ports or mother board. Did the connection for the ports come loose are you using a hub that is not powered. Is there an IRQ issue. Sometimes reallocating the IRQ may help. I’m not willing to provide anymore information but these may help. If the ports work and cleaning the mouse doesn’t help you may want to invest in a new mouse. If you still have problems it could be more serious.
