Got a second hand Hitachi TV (model C2164TNY-311)with remote but no instructions, but cant figure out how to tune in the stations. Remote seems to work as it changes stations (very hazy, previously set up in different area) and volume etc, but expected one of the buttons to bring up a menu to tune in to the TV stations. Tried all buttons, none seem to do anything for tuning, and no apparent method on the box itself. Anyone know how Hitachi do it?

Go to Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, Sears, Best Buy, or any store like that make sure you have your make and model written down with you and go get a universal remote they can run anywhere from $15 to $100. Just make sure the model of remote you buy works with your television set. The instructions are usually pretty easy and involve punching in a code - I recommend once you figure out the code you highlight it in the instructions and write it down on a small piece of paper and use scotch tape to secure it to the inside of the battery cover so you have it when you change the batteries.
I believe you'll have to program your Magnavox to the Zenith remote. You'll have to enter the control code for the Magnovox into the Zenith remote if you have the instructions. I'll give you all the Magnovox codes just in case you don't have access to them.
In that case you'll need to either buy a generic one for all type of remote control and then follow the instructions to program it to your Hitachi tv, or you'll need to enter your tv model number followed by the word "remote" into a search engine to find out where you may buy an original model replacement.
Sorry I cannot be morte specific, but you didn't state the exact model of Hitachi tv which you own nor the country you're in.
The BNZ110 is designed to be for Zenith by default. If it gets changed and won't work, then take the following steps.
1. Remove the batteries.
2. Hold the power button down for 10 seconds.
3. Reinstall the batteries.
This works for many Zenith TV's.
Here are the codes for Zenith if that does not work.
