Quickbooks 2005 Error 1603

I bought Quickbooks 2005 (not Pro) last year and installed it without a problem on my desktop. I have moved temporarily so I want to install it on my laptop so I can use it at my temporary home. Unfortunately every time I try to install it, it tells me to install Flash Player 5. I installed flash player 7 but still didn't work. went to circuit city, they installed flash player 9 then tried to install quickbooks, still won't work. No way past the steps which tell me to install flash player. When I hit "next" it acts like it is installing flash player then shows error msg 1603. Help!

Explore the QuickBooks 2005 CD, go into the QuickBooks folder and double click quickbooks.msi - this will install QuickBooks without checking for the old/outdated Flash Player 7.

Solution 1 (if you are installing QuickBooks)

Follow the steps in the Repair or reinstall .Net Framework article
Solution 2 (if you are updating QuickBooks)

Perform a Clean Install of QuickBooks and make sure to use a download of the program, and not a CD as the download will already be on the latest release.

I am trying to instal quickbooks pro 2008 but error 1603

Error 1603 is related to insufficient rights to install QB. Please follow these steps to resolve this issue. Assuming you have Win XP. 32 Bit OS.

1. Remove QB from Start>control panel>Add/remove programs. {IF YOU FIND ANY QB INSTALLED].
2. Rename all intuit folders to Intuit-old. You wil find these folders here:
  • C:\Program Files\Intuit
  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Common Files\Intuit
3. Then install QB using QuickBooks.msi . You will find it inside QBooks folder in your QB disc. Right click on the DVD / CD drive and click Open/Explore. Then go to Qbooks folder, find Quickbooks.msi and then run it. Follow the wizard and then install it.

IF STILL ISSUE IS UNRESOLVED, THEN REMOVE AND INSTALL MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK 2.0 SP2. To do it, please follow.

then save it and unzip it . Then run it. Select Allversions in the box where it will ask to remove .net framework from the computer.

I am using Quickbooks 2002 First screen says: This file was not closed in the previous session. Rolling back to last fully recorded transaction." Then I click OK and get the message: "Quickbooks has...

That is an "Old QB Software version" installed in to a "Newer Version of Windows" issue.

QB 2002 most likely works best with Win 98 or 2000.

For your best functioning on your PC, I would ONLY do QuickBooks entries when your PC has just been freshly turned on and no other programs have been running first. Also "Pause" or temporarily "Exit" any background running software like Win Defender and/or any Anti-virus programs. Call QuickBooks and ask them how you could go about Up Grading your QB version to a more Windows compatible version without having to purchase EACH version to "UPDATE" your pre-existing database/files so they are not lost or dysfunctional. They once sent me disks to jump 2 versions and they charged me less than 50 bucks but that was a few years back. Good Luck!

Unable to retrieve company file after closing it

You probably opened an old file. You will need to find the current file that you were using. Use the search and search for all files ending in .QBW
Check the dates they were last used (you don't want the one with the most current date since that was the old file that was opened.)

QuickBooks has experienced an error on startup

Step one is run scandisk. If you have a cross linked or corrupted file it will sort that out automactically. Step 2 is to google "where is the quickbooks repair feature".....odds are someone has used it before. Step 3.....save your Quickbooks database (in at least two places) and delete and reinstall Quickbooks if all else fails.
