Question about Nikon COOLPIX S6 Digital Camera

Nikon Coolpix l6

We turned on the camera to take a picture. The lens came out as usual and the image appeared on the screen. When we pressed the button to take the picture nothing happened. Then the phrase "lens error" appeared on the image screen. We could not get the camera to turn off or the lense to retract. We even tried to change batteries but run into the same problem. Any ideas?

my lens will not retract back in. Is there a recall on this camera? I have not dropped it and I always keep it in a nice case when it is not in use. So there has not been any abuse. I have only had the camera for a couple years.

With the power off, hold the camera in your palm and smack the front of the camera on your leg or arm. You might have to smack it a few time to get it to work. It has to do with the camera CDD lense (shuttle) being stuck. By smacking it around, it will free up the lense. Being extra gentle with it though. It worked for me. Hope this help.

Nikon Coolpix L24 camera. It doesn't take pictures. I mean that camera turns on nicely, the lens unfolds, you can even view images that you previously took, but when you press the button to take new photo,...

Check that your digital camera is not in playback or review mode.
Make sure the memory card is in the camera and that the card is properly formatted.
The Memory Card may be full. Download the images to the computer or delete some to make way for new photos.
Check the charge on the batteries. Replace if necessary.
Have you been using the flash? It may be recharging. When it is recharged, the camera will be ready to take photos again.

slap it into the lateral face , force the lens while turn on the camera, pressing OK while turn on the camera, it is risky but if you dont want to go to a shop camera you have to take this risk

Screen black in all lighting. Icons and menu show and can view photos already on card, but screen black in all modes. Can take picture, but it is also black. Lens cover is open. Nikon Coolpix 4600. Thanks...

Hello, I went and researched a few points in the manual and hope this helps to some extent. If this doesn't help, try resetting your camera by removing the batteries for 30 seconds, then reinstalling them and turning on the camera again.
Monitor is blank:
• Camera is off.
• Batteries are not correctly inserted or battery-chamber
cover is not properly latched.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• EH-62B AC adapter (available separately) is not properly
connected.
• Camera is in sleep mode. Press shutter-release button
halfway.
• Monitor is off.
• USB cable is connected.
• AV/Video cable is connected

No picture is taken when shutter release button is pressed:

• Camera is in playback mode.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• Red (!) lamp flickers: flash is charging.
• Green (AF) lamp flickers: camera unable to focus.
• Message "CARD IS NOT FORMATTED" appears in
monitor: memory card is not formatted for use in your
camera.
• Message "OUT OF MEMORY" appears in monitor:
insufficient memory to record picture at current Image
mode setting.
