See if this helps you Power off the All-In-One (AIO) and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Wait 30 seconds, then reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. Did the error message return? Yes: Continue to step 2. No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved. 2 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. 3 Remove both cartridges from the AIO. Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the All-In-One (AIO) on. Did the error message return? Yes: There is a hardware problem with the printer. Continue to Contacting Lexmark. No: Continue to Step 4. 4 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. 5 Insert the color cartridge. Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply, and power the AIO on. Did the error message return? Yes: Continue to Cleaning the Cartridge Contacts, then repeat steps 4 and 5. If you have already tried cleaning the contacts, continue to Defective Cartridge Test. No: Continue to step 6. 6 Power off the AIO and remove the power supply from the back of the unit. Open the top cover of the AIO. Using the carrier belt, gently move the cartridge carrier to the middle of the unit. 7 Insert the black cartridge. Close the top cover, reinsert the power supply and power the AIO on. Did the error message return? Yes: Continue to Cleaning the Cartridge Contacts, then repeat steps 6 and 7. If you have already tried cleaning the contacts, skip to Defective Cartridge Test. No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved. Cleaning the Cartridge Contacts NOTE: The embedded links in the table lead to specific troubleshooting documents. My computer is saying error 1203 and when I go to the solution finder, it's telling me there is no cartridge in it but there is, and I can't go any further. This is a lexmark 5400 series


The 1203 error indicates there is a failure of communication between the cartridges or one of the cartridges and the printer. Printer does not work. is Lexmark x4270 . I replaced cartridge and it shows on panel this message: Error #1203

IT KEEPS TELLING ME THE RIGHT CARTRIGE IS WRONG, ERROR #1203, WE LOST OR OWNERS GUIDE


Here is what Lexmark says:

Cartridge Error: 1203 Your print cartridge has a short.
  1. Press Power to turn your All-In-One off.
  2. Unplug your All-In-One from the wall outlet.
  3. Plug in your All-In-One.
  4. Reinstall the cartridges.
If this does not resolve the problem, see More troubleshooting options, or replace your cartridges.

Also the cartridge that should be installed looks like Lexmark 32 ink for black and 33 ink for color.

Overview
The 1203 error message is caused by either a communication failure between one of the printheads (cartridges) and the All-In-One (AIO), or by a short in one of the printheads.
Resolution
If the problem occurred immediately after the printer was purchased and unpacked from the box, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for assistance.

Lexmark x9350 printer gives error message #1203


I logged into Lexmark's web site and checked their printer support page. It said that if you get error message 1203 your ink cartridge has leaked fluid. In order to find the right cartridge, do the following. Remove both ink cartridges, put in one, turn off the printer, turn it back on and if you get the message 1203 that's the cartridge with the problem. I did not get that message. I turned off the printer, put in the other cartridge, and turned it back on. Sure enough, I got the 1203 message again. (I had cleaned the wrong cartridge before). I removed the leaky cartridge, cleaneded it (making sure I did not leave any residue) and put it back in the printer. It worked!

Error codes 1201 and 1203


Hello, erorr 1203 is telling you there is one of a few issues with your cartridge/s. Check the contacts are cleaned and printheads. Make sure there are no paper jams. Reset the printer by turning it off and completely unplugging it and replugging it and turn it back on again. Clear print queue, check it is set to work offline in settings. Press copy and copy something and see if it is ok now. Error 1201 is a communication issue with data where your cartridge has stoped for one or more reasons and h eprint data was not completed or used. Try the reset to fix this too. Post back if no good. Don't forget to clear print queue.

These steps are for a Lexmark 4200, but I suspect they will work for your printer as well:

Cartridge Error: 1203

Your print cartridge has a short.

1. Press Power to turn your All-In-One off.
2. Unplug your All-In-One from the wall outlet.
3. Plug in your All-In-One.
4. Reinstall the cartridges.

If this does not resolve the problem, see More troubleshooting options, or replace your cartridges.

Error #1203


Normi, The 1203 error as you suspected deals with the ink cartridge. This is a common problem and Lexmark has a troubleshooting procedure posted on their web site.
