Question about Magellan RoadMate 360 GPS Receiver

Magellan Roadmate 360 Manager Software Program, and Preloaded SD Card

Believing to erase old data, I have reformatted the Internal Memory and the Preloaded SD Card, and it came out that the GPS Receiver now does not have sound, language settings, and maps. I need to re-install the files of the Magellan Roadmate 360 Manager Software Program (that is not included in the box), and of the Preloaded Maps (U.S.A., Canada, and Puerto Rico) in the SD Card. I have asked assistance to Magellan, but they just want me to send them the Unit for repair, while the Unit is working, and it needs only to re-install the software on it. Can you help me to locate such software for download? Many Thanks! Best Regards, Carlo Tognoni carlotognoni7@yahoo.com

Hi guyz I pretty much did the same thing!!! I bought this gps for my girlfriend for valentines from a friend and i was trying to restore it to its factory default and the only option i found was repair and i did an internal memory format like a ****! well everything seems to be fine but no audio at all! I've done lots of research and it seems to be that the only way to fix it is by restoring the sounds files but where can i get them? I MEAN magellan doesn't provide any support any more due to the unit is discontinued! I mean how messed up is that? AND why would they provide with such a horrible option? that's sad! Can anyone please please please help me? please I'm going crazy here! :(

I can repair your units back to working order. If interested contact mb2foru@aol,com or cal 843-450-4408 to arrange costs and repairs. I have fixed units that have been accidentally reformatted using the repair button and everything works again including the sound and maps. I have bought units from ebay that were fubared by owners and fixed them. My fees are fair compared to Magellan even if you could get them to look at them as they don't support the 360 anymore.

If you want to sell your "useless" 360 units that were "repaired" with the "repair" button email me at mb2foru@aol.com and I would buy them from you or can repair them even though Magellan says it can't be done it can, they just don't want to as they want to sell new units. It would not be illeagal for me to repair yours as you did pay for an operating system when you bought your unit and I am just restoring what should be there already not giving you anything that you haven't already paid for. Magellans refusal is just plain stubborn corporate greed at work.

To repair you can send me just a sd card and not your whole unit and I can give instructions on how to reinstall the sd card to make 360 work again and this would save on shipping and your piece of mind that your unit is safe, I have been an engineer for 25 years in electronics so this has been easy for me to do,

  • albertlt Jan 16, 2011

Saw your reply and need the same fix for my 360. If you can also help me what size sd card do you need and where do I send it.

    Thanks,

It erases the entire operating system and it is a windows OS but not the ones you find on normal PCs. It is a special written version for small devices and I have all the files that can be put on an SD card 8GB or larger and you can install using your PC to the unit through the cable you use for map updates.

The sounds files won't help. My sound files are still intact. It wipes out something internally too.

Apparently the "REPAIR" option should really be labelled "RENDER THIS DEVICE WORTHLESS".

Magellan is NO HELP. They say it can't be fixed.

There should be a Class Action suit of some kind here. No one puts in a software option, that renders the hardware totally useless and gets away with it. Do they?

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SD Card for magellan 300,Can I use any card on it? I've just got it as a gift without the card. Is there any website where to buy it?

The Magellan Roadmate 300 and 300R both require preloaded map data to be supplied from an SD card. You can't just pop any card into the slot and get it working. It requires a card of 2GB or less loaded with Magellan mapping software. Magellan provides nationwide maps and regional maps. The 300R was a regional unit while the 300 included a national basemap.

If you have a model 300, you can still use the highway basemap to get routing from city to city but you will not have detailed address routing at the residential street level unless you insert an SD card with Magellan software. If you have a 300R model, the unit will be useless without the Magellan software on an SD card.

Magellan doesn't seem to offer much software support for this unit any more and the maps are difficult to find.

Magellan roadmate 1412 just stop working and displayed the following messange: "SD card has been removed. Program will restart. Please insert SD Card with map"

Providing you saved the SD card info as soon as you got it, reformat the SD card and copy the files over. Or find a friend that has the same unit and copy their files. Reformat your card before also.

Accidently Reformatted SD card and need important pictures back

you can recover photos from reformatted sd card with a professional photo recovery program, here's how you can do it
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended asoftech photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked), download the program from
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-Up-and-Recovery/Asoftech-Photo-Recovery.shtml
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your lost photos.

Help me please

I had the same problem caused by reformatting the internal memory and this is what I did which worked for me:

Make sure you remove any SD memory cards before trying this fix.

First: find the base maps (NA_BSMAP.mgi and NA_BSMAP.nlt)maps which are located in your computer in the Magellan Roadmate Manager (C:\ProgramFiles\Magellan\Magellan RoadMate Manager NA\Map\Basemaps)

Second: Connect your Roadmate with the USB cable to your computer.

Third: Plug in USB and power up your GPS. Cut and paste the two files mentioned above to your GPS (Devices with Removable Storage (example E:/). They are approximately 25 MB in size and will take a few minutes to copy.

Fourth: Unplug the USB cable and shut power off to the GPS.

Fifth: Power up the GPS and it should find the "base maps".

Good luck!!

No maps found!!

Hi - I have the same model GPS but I've been unable to locate a copy of the CDs and I'd love to get a copy of them - would that be possible? My email address is bcmailid@sbcglobal.net.

As far as re-installing he maps, here's what I've found. I think this might help:
Locate the files that are loaded on the computer.Magellan Roadmate Manager example: C:\Program Files\Magellan\Magellan RoadMate Manager NA\Map\Basemaps
Copy all files. Make sure your Roadmate is connected and click on Example E:/Removable Disk and paste them with other files. It takes a few seconds to 1 minute to transfer the 25.5 mb file so don't unplug it until it is finished.
