Does the vivitar vivicam XX14v2 record sound? I recorded a video and I couldn't hear any sound. Please help

Here is the manual for the camera. I am thinking that you probably have to play video on the computer or something with speakers to get sound. Having said that, I don't see a microphone on the front of the camera. It is a digital camera that ALSO takes video, not a dedicated Video Camera.

Havingsaid that, I just did a search of the manual for 'sound'. I found this

Silent Mode Menu
You have the option of activating the camera's 'Silent Mode' to disable all of the sound effects (except for beeps heard during the Self-Timer countdown) that the camera emits when performing camera functions.
Note: This does not affect the sound during video recording.

I recenlty dropped my SD 870 camera, now video sound is now distorted. Any suggestions?

Hi crimsonbreez

Thanks for your question at Fixya,

The fact that you have dropped the camera , has led either two of the below parts to malfunction and it's not a software fault but a hardware fault.

1 - Microphone has been damaged
If the microphone has got physical damage then you will have the video itself recorded in a distorted format.

2 - Speaker of the camera has been damaged
In this case you will find that though the video has been recorded properly , the speaker outputs the sound as distorted, a quick check for you would be to copy the video file and then play it to verify whether you have the distortion in sound or not , if yes then the problem is with the microphone, if no then the problem is with the speaker ..:)

This is the procedure by which you can know the right damaged part and then get it replaced by an authorized service center, if it's under warranty you could possibly get it for free and if not then you have pay the minimum amount of money to get either the microphone or the speaker replaced.

Hope this helps ...:) In case you have any queries , feel free to contact me.

The problem of my camera is that no sound appear when i record a can i solve this problem, thanks.

Hi music_divina ,

This could be due to the fact that you have a digital camera without an inbuilt microphone in it.

Usually camcorders do have in built microphone so that you can record sound as well as video simultaneously, whereas digital cameras are meant for high quality pictures , rather than videos.

So if you want to record good quality video along with audio , I would recommend you to get a camcorder.

If you have a webcam and you want to record audio along with video , then you can easily do it by using the microphone which is to be inserted in the mic slot just besides the speaker's slot with a microphone icon near it.

All you need to do is select the video recording source as your webcam and audio recording source as your microphone and there you go , you have the recording with audio.

Hope this helps ...:)

When i recored my vocals they are delayed so it goes over the beat instead of being on top of it and right on point

This is a common problem with recording multi-track sounds on a computer. It is caused by something that is known as 'latency' - basically it is down to the fact that the signal from your microphone takes a different route through the system to that taken by the audio playback. The AT2020 is a USB microphone and the signal therefore has to pass through the USB bus circuit of your computer. Despite claims of multi-tasking your computer cannot do everything at once so it naturally creates delays to make itself work properly. This will be more of a problem with a computer which has a 'cut-down' processor such as a Celeron (Intel) or Duron/Sempron (AMD). These processors are really only intended for basic computing (office type) use and are not really up to the high demands of video or audio recordings.
You may get some improvement by tweaking some of the audio settings for your sound-card to change the hardware acceleration.
This article may help you
If you are using a dedicated midi /music recording program such as Cubase then you may be able to correct the time lag using the 'quantise' function after recording your vocals. However the best solution is likely to be a hardware one Either buy a proper multi-track mixer/recorder designed for the purpose or get a second USB microphone - play your backing track on an external device - using one microphone to capture your voice and one to re-record the backing track (the only downside for this second option will be a gradual degrading of the sound quality each time it is re-cycled)

Can I connect my camera to my PC with a USB cable and record sound from sites such as you tube while I film the screen to get both the audio and visual of a film clip. Right now i can do that by using the...

This is a very roundabout way of recording from YouTube. There are many free utilities to capture YouTube or other website videos directly in your computer, without using a camera and getting the degradation involved. If you want the clip on your camera, you can just copy it there over the USB connection afterwards (you might need to convert the format).

The video capture software I use will automatically sense video playing in my browser and capture it. It is called Sothink Web Video Downloader, and I got it from (free download).

No sound on my video Kodak M340....

Your camera has a speaker and microphone.

When recording please make sure you're not covering the microphone.

If the sound is playing on the camera and on other devices.
I suspect it might be your speakers on the computer.

Videos have no sound

Many cameras that capture videos, don't have a microphone to record the sounds.
For all that the Vivitar 5022 does have, a microphone is not one of them. There is no sound recording capability for this model.
