Why when I drive my 01 2500 chevy pulling trailer maybe 5000 pounds at 60 mph or higher mph it wont keep up the rpm goes up like its going to explode
If this transmission is a 4L80E, it sounds like you are slipping your converter. Check your fluid and if it is dark and smells burnt I would pull the pan off and look in it for friction and check the magnet for metal. If you don't feel good doing it your self, take it to an ATRA certified shop and have them check it out for you.
You are expecting a lot from a torque converter to full 2.5 tons at 60 mph. The converter will be a standard unit and will experience considerable slip under these conditions .Run fault codes to ensure that the converter clutch is operational. Talk to an auto transmission shop about a heavy duty converter that is more suited to the job.

Check to make sure you don't have the TOW/HAUL switch on the end of the tranny stalk turned on

Replace the speed sensor, but also make sure you clear any codes, even if none are showing up, disconnect the battery for about 1 hour. After that drive it easy for a while, so it can relearn.

either you have a fuel pump that went out, or your fuel pump relay went. These fuel pumps last around 100,000 miles, so if you're way under that, it's more than likely the relay, if you're close to that, it could be either.
