Polk speakers play very low sound on youtube etc. windows xp

My speakers have always worked great, until a couple of days ago. They play media on my hard drive fine, but volume on internet videos is extremely low. I have checked that my speakers are turned on and up, etc. Is there a patch or something I can download?
