Question about Samsung CLP-500 Laser Printer
I keep getting 2 error messages:"transfer belt error" & "lever unlocking error". I can'[t seem to clear them.
Helped me and solved the lever and transfer belt. Actually it is the combined black toner cartridge and transfer belt. The side plate is about 3 inches long and has the two screws fixing it on. The sensor has a single screw fixing it, but in fact just looks like a black cover plate. Lever it out easilly at the screw end, not the other end which is impossible.
I just blew out the **** in the sensor, wiggled the white 3 pin connector, and since it has the look of a reflection based optical sensor, then I cleaned the belt along its edge with antistatic cleaner , ie tissue paper soaked and rotate the gear to move the belt round. There is a silver patch on the belt which passes the sensor once every revolution of the belt, and I gave this a particularly good clean as it is probably the only bit that matters.
Anyway, several black refills (hole and a bit of tape sealing it) later and the unit still works fine. Actually I always refill everything and just high pressure blow off the whole printer every so ofter.

I saw this posted somewhere on the internet and it worked for me.
Take out the transfer unit and look at the bottom. One side has visible wires. Open the side panel on that side. Follow the 3 wires to a C shaped sensor held in with a screw. Remove the sensor and blow canned air in the slots on the inside of the C. Put it all back together and hope for the best.

The transfer belt is a consumable, just like the toners. The only way to clear the error is by installing a new one. Be advised: as with ALL color laser printers, your unit will soon ask for a drum, waste toner bottle and fuser unit replacement.

This worked for me after days of not knowing what to do. Solution 1 and 2 were most helpful

The two solutions below by Student 2 and Brendan 54 worked for me.
I have been struggling with this transfer belt/ lever locking error for months. At first, switching machine off opening the cover, and re-switching on worked, but a great pain in the neck. Finally, nothing would get the errors to go away so I could use the printer until I found this site and the two solutions (solutions 1 & 2). Great stuff ! Many thanks chaps. I used a can of compressed air ("Air Duster") to blow out the sensors, and I cleaned the small square transparent patch on the edge of the transfer belt (which the sensor detects) with a soft cloth. I needed to bend a paperclip with a piece of cloth wrapped around it to clean the inside of the transparent patch.

My transfer belt produces loud sound ,,how can i fix it ??

You need to reset the printer after installing a new transfer belt. The instructions for this are in your printer manual and on the instruction sheet that came with the new transfer belt. i.e. Menu/maitenance/check others/transfer belt/reset.
