I can hear sound but see no picture. I am guessing the picture tube has gone bad. This TV has two tuners and a repairman once told me that if the first tuner ever goes, I can switch tuners. The user manual does not mention this. Do you know how I can switch tuners to make the other one primary?

That "Tech" is full of hot air, I have never heard of such rubbish!
Above is your manual. have a look for your self. Now IF you can do Picture in Picture, then technically, there are TWO tuners, BUT one cannot work, and the other not, I do NOT know what that Tech is on about I suspect he is BSing you... If channels are Blocked, then it is maybe something wrong with the cable, or the strength of the signal, or something else, But there are NO "Tuners" that are going faulty, this is NOT how a TV receiver works.
Does this Dynex model have multiple tuners: NOIf so, can they go bad : Yes, as could any electronic bit. maybe the ONLY tuner has faulted, but I don't think so. Tuners usually work, or don't. but still may pay to take to a professional and ask them to check the tuner? Are the tuners replaceable: YES. will the rest of the tuners eventually go out and I will end up replacing the TV:. NO, well depending if there is any fault, maybe. Again I have never heard such BS, EVER.
U Main Tuner signal board is dead.Replaced the Main Tuner board will solved this problems.Picture was white distorts,he should of replaced the Main Tuner board. The T-con control board only replaced when u have power to tv,but no video. When have any kind of video on the tv all it way cause by Main Tuner signal board.
Sounds like you have bad solders in or around your tuner ***`y .Try knocking on the cable input while it`s working, this might confirm bad solder or cable connector.
In case of bad solders you can take the cover off, the tuner will be right at the end of that connector and mounted on the circuit board .
The bad solders are often on the p.c board itself . If you feel handy with a soldering iron you can resolder the tuner on the board, otherwise you might need the help from a local repairman. In any case you will know what is going on
Hope this will help Good luck
Is the VCR going through ch 3 or video inputs - if video inputs your TV tuner is likely bad if through ch 3 seeif te picture goes funny on ch 3 without using the VCR the tuner may be bad on higher band channels - smetimes you can remove the tuner and resolder the tuner itself. But if it always works with the VCR just use it that way and don't bother with the fix.
do you have the yellow video and red and white audio rca cables ?
it will give you a better picture than the coax connection.
but the tv tuner may be going , so using the rca jacks would eliminate the tuner, but finding out which tuner is bad ( cable box if using one or the tv tuner)should be checked with another tv to see if it also happends to that tv , if it does not then the other tv tuner is bad and needs to be replaced
To verify that the tuner is the problem, move the cable from the second to the first. If you don't get a signal, the tuner is bad. The main tuner is part number 859843000 and is available for $47.38 from tritronicsinc.com
Sharps are known for bad tuners and cold solder joints. If you tap on tuner and picture comes back there is cold joints in tuner, If not most likley bad tuner. if the audio is there with blue screen it is the tuner definitly.good luck
I think you may be missing a power supply voltage from the sweep supply from a shorted convergence IC or a Bad capacitor. Not alot a user can do as it is a splid state set and requires know how of the circuits to find out whats bad in that circuit. Please seek out a trained tech to assit you in this repair.
