Question about Sharp AL-1641CS All-In-One Laser Printer
First let me say that I am excited to find this forum to ask for help.I live in American Samoa a remote US territory in the South Pacific. There are a lot of local self proclaimed IT's on island but after numerous attempts and a lot of $$.I have come to the conclusion that I can mess things up just as bad as they can.So here I am. Well first I ran into a problem with my computer at work I was unable to access any programs I would double click on the desktop icons but nothing would open.I then proceeded to use the back track feature and ended up reloading or repairing windows somehow.Luckly the computer automaticly did a backup. When it was completed I was able to open all the programs on the desktop again so I thought.I checked all the my documents and they were all there I opened a DOS based accounting program we use all the information seemed to be intact.I then tried to open my Quick Books Pro 2005 but it gave me a message that I was missing the file inetclnt.dll and could not open.I called a freind that had a QB 2006 and he e-mailed me the DLL file from the 2006 version of QB no luck still wouldn't open.I then called QB tech support and ended up haveing to renew my tech support sub for 200 plus $$.After about 45 min. of tech support nothing they told me my 2007 QB was in the mail and I should waite for it and load this to reslove the problem. Thanks QB great tech support. We did find out however that although the program was on my computer it didn't show on the add remove programs in my control panel.Oh I forgot to mention I don't have my QB original software disc.I am still unable to access my QB program any help would be appriciated. Also another problem have experienced after the windows reload was my Sharp AL-1641CS dosen't print.I downloaded the windows xp drivers from the Sharp website and the printer shows and spools the print jobs but the printer dosent seem to receiveing the signal.I have tried deleating the printer and drivers and then reloading them but no luck.any advice would be greatly appriciated.Thanks. TamaSamoa

Hi, With all the missing programs, files, links and others, might it not be better to start anew? Since QB installer is coming, most if not all drivers are downloadable, perhaps your best bet is to delete the old, repartition, re-format and install a new/fresh/clean Windows. If there are files/data that you would want to keep/maintain, you can always burn then into a DVD prior to the new install and load them back in when the re-install has completed. Alternately, a 2Gb flashdisk can hold a lot of data. In some similar instances, I normally also copy the inf, System32 of the old setup just in case will have problem with drivers. Another is before deleting/reformatting, go to your Device Manager and make a list of all your devices. Thereafter, download the needed drivers appropriate for your OS and burn them into a CD (or flashdrive just like your important data. Foremost in your list is networking card and modem driver. It may also be to your advantage to log down your Networking details such as your IP address. This may sound more work but in the long run less frustration and possibility of your problem recurring. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
