Hi, I have a Acer Extensa 4420 laptop. I downgrade my system to windows xp but i could not get the wireless to work so now I am trying to go back to Vista. I never made the recovery CD's so i have nothing. I used my friends Vista that he had for his PC but I can't register the windows with my windows key and the time is ticking away. Is there a solution to the problem that i have? Is there a way to get the vista that was originally installed on my laptop? Or do I have to use my friends vista and reinstall the windows every 30 days? Thank you in advance for helping me with this issue.
If you have a valid license with your laptop, and it sounds as if you do, all you need to do is contact Microsoft and activate your installation. Since the internet activation apparently has failed, here are two additional methods:
Activate Windows Vista by using the automated telephone system
loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution');
To activate Windows Vista by telephone, you must use an automated
telephone system. To activate Windows Vista by using the automated
telephone system, follow these steps:
Back to the top
Method 3: Contact Microsoft
loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution');
If
Windows detects that the hardware on your computer has changed
significantly, and the previous method does not solve your problem, you
may have to contact Microsoft for help.
To view the Microsoft Activation Centers Worldwide Telephone Numbers
list, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=71142
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
It may be best to go directly to Method 3, find the phone number and call MS. Once you explain your situation they should activate without any issue.
Good luck, and please let me know how this works out for you.
